At the end of a very strange weekend where there were an awful lot of correct scores (mostly 1-1, as SingYourHeartsOut has noted), very few players actually broke the 20-point mark. But, if you look up, you'll see everyone's favourite Big Friendly Giantwolf with his head in the clouds, collecting his second weekly win of the campaign with an outstanding FIVE correct scores from 15 fixtures and a total of 35 points. Those scores included Wolves' stirring, high blood pressure 1-1 thriller against the behemoths of Norwich, but also a crucial bullseye in the tricky Bologna-Sassuolo midtable clash - he's a cunning one in those European fixtures, is Giant. The consistently unlucky Geowolf was second with 34, the only other player to break the 30-point mark, and Geo has now finished just shy of top place about 548 times by my reckoning (possible slight exaggeration, but I'm sure Geo will agree, it feels like it). He hit four correct scores, two doubled, but Sunday wasn't overly kind. SingYourHeartsOut and Purplepault69 got three correct apiece for 27 points, while Mowtown's Huge Of Sharjah continued recent strong form with 26. Three correct scores and some heartbreaking asterisk pain for Wolf In Wednesbury secured him 25 points, and whilst everyone has their own tales of woe, it seems particularly cruel that Sevilla's goal with just a few minutes to go against Atletico denied him the 10 points that would have seen him on 35 points (though 1-0 to Madrid was also a Giantwolf pick, so he would have finished on 40 anyway, if that makes you feel any better, Wednesbury. Probably not. Oh, and Geowolf also had 1-0, so... ah, just suck it up, Wednesbury lad. You finished above me, that's all that matters).

In one of those weird anomalies, the top four each managed 15 points this week, which means everything stays the same up there - except, of course, with only one week to go, it means that SG Wolves has one hand on the trophy now. Can Wonder Boyo make a leap of 19 points in one round, let alone 26 for Frank Lincoln or 29 for Blast Tyrant? I guess it's possible if SG Wolves doesn't submit his scores this week, because, I don't know, he accidentally gets trapped in an elevator or someone sabotages his wi-fi. Stranger things have happened.

Giantwolf takes giant strides indeed, into the top 5 and in credible of distance of finishing even higher. The top 9 have surely secured top 10 finishes barring a Bruno Lage-esque collapse, and Jrpb-3 is there in 10th, with a clutch of players breathing down his neck (and also drooling, in the case of Huge Of Sharjah). SingYourHeartsOut's excellent form means he's surely free of wooden spoon territory now, so that particular fistfight of shame will be between Leominster Wolf and SuperGran - unless either wickedly plot to not enter any predictions for the final week just to avoid ignominy. Fortunately both of them have far too much class for such a thing.
