After five matches, Chris "resurgent" H leads with 15 points from Super "insurgent" Gran with 13. SingYourHeartsOut is in the midst of berating the idiot who filled in his predictions when Man Utd beat Spurs 3-2, earning him 5 points, so he quietly puts the idiot down and walks away, whistling.
It won’t last!

I think 25 for me again, that is three weeks running and five weeks with 25+. Maybe a late charge for a medal

The Cup Final incorporates 25 fixtures over 5 days, with 5 asterisks as Jrpb-3 and Boon2 go head-to-head for the trophy. They've submitted their predictions, which are as follows - and, submitted blind, they've actually not replicated a single scoreline, meaning that every single game matters...

01a.png

Best of luck to both players, and everyone please feel free to applaud success, mercilessly berate failure, and to take private bets. Game on!

A Prediction League first this week, as three amigos share the podium - nothing can separate SuperGran, Leominster Wolf and Chris H (make your own jokes, please, and nothing too crass. Oh... okay, go on, be crass if you want) as they all finish hip-to-hip-to-hip on 32 points apiece. Hopefully singing Mariachi songs and riding a donkey, which I have on good authority that at least one of them does on a regular basis. Leominster hit four correct scores to take his second weekly prize; Chris hit three to become the first player to secure three weekly awards; and SuperGran finally gains a weekly crown, with two scores but taking points from 11 of 15 fixtures. Given that Leominster struck a blank on two out of three asterisks he can perhaps be the most disappointed to not to be outright winner. Giantwolf and SG Wolves also got three correct this week, in a tight contest, whilst Lonewolf had a second great week on the spin, and NevesWolf, Celebrity Wolf and Blast Tyrant each remained models of consistency. Just not on a donkey.

Blast Tyrant closes to within 5 points of Frank Lincoln at the top, whilst SG Wolves holds firm in third and Chris H's recent brilliant form sees him back up to fourth. Frank's faltering is giving the rest hope, as the season enters its fourth quarter, and Wonder Boyo and Contrarian are losing ground, overtaken by Oh When The Wolves' quiet, ninja-like progression.

Congrats @SuperGran @Chris H @Leominster_Wolf .. bottom of the pile this week for me not even reaching double figures... is that a first ?

There have been a few 8s here and there. Lowest points record was set by Purplepault69, with 4 - and the very next week, he won the round! Just goes to show, never take a defeat to heart...

congrats Chris
trying to deflect attention away from yourself there :D well if it’s not me and it’s not you….congrats to @Leominster_Wolf
Guilty as charged, the residents of Leominster gather in corn square every Sunday morning, giddy with excitement awaiting my Mariachi performance whilst astride an ass. Occasionally I will mix things up and do medieval sonnets, whilst playing a lute mounted upon a llama - but generally that doesn’t go down so well.
I think it’s the spitting…… and unfortunately not from the llama

well done to my fellow three way participants, as always it’s been a blast ;)

Cup Final Day One:

Image4.png

That's what we like for a Final! After three matches Boon2 leads Jrpb-3 by 7 points to 6, and we already have one correct score as Boon nailed Madrid's late 3-0 victory, thanks to Karim Boonzema. He's also one asterisk to the good, so a slight early advantage. Man City scuppered both players. Tonight's games will be about the odd goal here and there, although there is a difference of opinion in the Man Utd v Atletico game - will Jrpb fall to another deadly Madrid defeat?

Anyone who has tried to secure a doctor's appointment this past year will know that a week to collect a prescription is actually a conservative estimate.
Exactly, it’s the perfect cover.

If anything Mrs @Frank Lincoln will be surprised he’s back early.

So surprised she may not even notice the budgie smuggler tan line!

For goodness sakes, Fulham...

On Day 2, Boon2 stretches his early lead to 13-8 over Jrpb-3, but in truth very little went right tonight for our finalists, except for Atletico completing that Madrid double. Boon has now used three of five asterisks, however, so everything remains delicately balanced. Seven games tomorrow will play a big part in the unfolding battle, as the players have split decisions in four of them.

And Fulham are bottle jobs. **** Fulham.

Hopefully just the general ebb and flow of the game (plenty of points still to play for, more than enough to come back), and not the start of a trend that will see me gradually fall further behind. Starting to look towards the bench to see what I can do to change the game.

An Arsenal goal might have rescued a poor showing from me but it didn’t happen and multiple correct scores put boon2 well in control. Boon2 has raised his game for the final and I’ve not really turned up so far
I’ve not looked at remaining predictions to see if there are still enough points to come back but think boon2 must be close to sealing the win

still 8 different results predicted out of 11 games remaining plus 3 different scores and Jrpb-3 has two asterisks against my one so it's still anyone's game

More points still up for grabs than I first thought but need a few correct scores to get back in the game. Hoping that I can at least take it to the final game or two

Some heavy punches landed last night, and it was that single goal (or lack of one) in the double asterisk Arsenal-Liverpool game that made all the difference. Jrpb-3 picks up a first correct score but Boon2 adds 2 more to make 3 overall, and leads 32-21. 6 more games tonight, and contrasting opinions in five of them, and all remaining asterisks on hold til Friday. Points on the board put Boon2 firmly in charge, but we all know what a Watford-style comeback feels like... and Boon has placed faith in Everton, which is much like balancing an egg on a cat's head and asking it to sit still. Tense!

strangely the site I was checking scores on last night was showing the Lille Chelsea score as 1-1 making me thing things were worse than they are (0 pts for me and 5 for boon 2, which is now the other way round which is a bit of a relief)

@SuperGran is now that confident of her ability to win that she doesn’t even feel the need to predict all the games anymore!

Either that or she thinks Southampton vs Man City is due to be called off…
