Manchester United fan Usian Bolt is ready for a trial at Old Trafford if Fergie agrees.

Rio Ferdinand has tweeted he will talk to his boss SAF to set one up.

Bolt himself is very confident about his football ability, and would be the fastest player in the team.

Nothing new really, Stevie Kindon was faster than Bolt, well almost...

Which athlete or personality should Wolves trial?

Sprinters in football is nothing new. In the late 90s Darren Campbell played for Inter Cardiff in the League of Wales

"A die-hard United fan" is he? That's an insult to actual die-hard United fans (yes they do exist).

Must have cost his dad a fortune when he was a nipper getting to Old Trafford every other Saturday.

I'm sure Stoke will be interested in a couple of those female shot putters.

It showed him playing football in the documentary that was shown in the build up to the olympics. He didn't look great!

Surely they can't be serious?

Then again Fergie has done some daft things over the years.

Bebe & Bellion anyone?

Not as good as Tim Steele

He was quick but not that quick. Finished 5th in the Rumbelows Sprint challenge some way behind the winner, ex postman and Coventry star John Williams

Does anyone by chance know Steve Kindon's track time over 100 metres?

I would be interested to know just how fast Stevie was.

Thanks for reminding me, SP and STW.

Of course, we used to run the 100 yards at school, so I guess it was yards in SK's time too.

Could we get Mo Farah in as a replacement for Dave Edwards?

Bolt is actually fairly average over 5-20m which is what really counts in football.

No he isn't.

Any off the worlds top sprinters would whup most footballers even over 20meters. The question is more of how much recovery they would need and how often they could do it. The pundits always go on about Bolts slow start. He is a tall man and takes a while (relatively ) to uncurl from the blocks. From a walking or jogging start he would be off like a... a.. well a Bolt I suppose.

Didn't mean average over the whole population, just average for sprinter.

Loads of guys faster than Bolt over "football distances". Would make more sense to trial them.

He might be fast, but does he meet the other Man U requirement. Good at diving.
