Well done to Aston Villa for posting a tribute to TF on insta.
Just reading about Chris Bart-Williams... tragic. RIP.

Very sad news.... Trevor Francis was one of the big stars of my youth , made his debut at 16, another of those very talented players that never seemed to get a consistent run in the national team ( Hoddle another) which is probably one of the reasons we ( England) didn't qualify for the 74 and 78 World cup.
Used to enjoy his punditry on the Serie A and one of the few English players of that era to be a success abroad.
Also used to do a column in one of those Football comic type mags (Tiger?) and remember he regularly mentioned Wolves and also his friendship with Robert Plant.

I remember Francis as a player at Birmingham, he was almost held in awe by fans and media in the midlands at the time. He is one of those players from that era who would look comfortable in todays game and even flourish more than he did then. At a national level he suffered somewhat from not being a target man in a forward line and competing with Keegan. Nowadays he’d be a regular in a front three.
