He is absolutely fantastic, what a player. I was worried when we had our midfield stripped at the end of last season, but Gomes and players such as Lemina, Doyle etc have quashed those fears…dare I say it, I prefer our current midfield.

100%. Love Neves and Moutinho, but these boys are proper physical ballers. Both far better suited to battling AND playing, and now as it turns out scoring

He's a bit old school in the way he gets stuck in. More of a British kind of player than most homegrown players are! Loved him from the minute he forced a move to us, rather than going to Lyon (was it). That debut goal against Soton, celebrating his own tackles, his obvious fondness for the club and then two goals today! What's not to love? Oh I forgot, he also plays alongside Mario Lemina. What a midfield pairing!
