It features a manic depressive piano playing koala bear whose life is so hideous he has become "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FikztR9bnqM&feature=player_embedded" title="">42 cm of unhappiness</a>", and thus storms to No1 in the list of surreal adverts for football clubs (a short list, to be fair, as most of the other ones we can find – <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycyvBUz85Go" title="">this one</a>, say, or <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcL_xop-CpI" title="">this</a>, or <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3Ij8Jixttg" title="">this Tamworth FC epic</a> – seem to be rather literal). The only one that comes close on a scale of bizarreness, and it's considerably less artistic, is <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9h7ln_watford-football-club-academy-promo_shortfilms" title="">Watford's rather confusing attempt</a> to harness Sir Geoff Hurst, Michael Owen and Paul Gascoigne (among others) to promote their academy. Anyway, they all whup <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZbNWrLslyM" title="">Liverpool's sorry ass</a>. Least impressive football club promotional video segment? This look around <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPppM-XEzfE#t=1m26s" title="">Wolves' training-ground canteen</a>. Blee!</p><p>2) Sometimes it's hard to tell when <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqjiRXQr-VY" title="">this chap </a>is actually skipping, and when he's just waving a rope about. Still, he does appear to be taking the popular schoolgirl playground favourite towards its logical extreme. Though not quite as far as <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqPPZpQ4q1k" title="">this</a>. Or <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2voKoQHosBg&NR=1#t=2m16s" title="">this</a>.</p><p>3) With 15 minutes of Brazil's friendly against Romania gone, the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_QQ_NkJCjc" title="">cameras cut from the pitch</a>, and spent several minutes following a fat bloke jogging around a gym. That man was Ronaldo, who with half an hour gone replaced Fred to make his last ever appearance in all of football. He had one great chance and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_QQ_NkJCjc#t=3m14s" title="">skied it miserably</a>. This week the subject of a beautifully produced <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRJSgCd2Ydk" title="">Nike ad</a>, but this is one footballer who doesn't need expensive advertising to pass into legend. Not when we can watch the likes of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE774yQX6uQ" title="">this</a>, or <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCayNnIEH88" title="">this</a>, or absolutely loads more.</p><p>4) So Serena Williams is returning to tennis. Hopefully that means we'll be seeing a bit more of her doing <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54cPAPdA0UM&feature=player_embedded" title="">this</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXLtwfkaJQM&feature=related" title="">this</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg-JthmEnps" title="">this</a>, and a bit less of her doing (and these all came during her recent tennis hiatus) the likes of <a href="http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Oprahs-Pedicure-with-Serena-Williams-Video" title="">this</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j_XwyclXWg" title="">this</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jjkozq9WrKY" title="">this</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waYIBkGUSjE#t=0m29s" title="">this</a> and <a href="http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/13465156/highlight/158576" title="">this</a>.</p><p>5) Jordan Henderson's £20m move to Liverpool has thrust him into the footballing stratosphere. His transfer surely means an end to his lucrative endorsement contract with <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgvbEa8BDKY" title="">Olivers Dental Studio</a>. The really bad news: he wants to <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3229246/Jordan-Henderson-models-himself-on-Ryan-Giggs.html?ATTR=Football&OTC-RSS=" title="">model his lifestyle on "squeaky clean Manchester United legend" Ryan Giggs</a>.</p><p>6) Who says romance is dead? While his former Republic of Ireland team-mates prepared for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia, Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland was <a href="http://www.balls.ie/2011/05/27/stephen-ireland-pops-the-question-video/" title="">getting down on one knee</a> on the deck of a yacht off the coast of California, just one rogue wave away from having <a href="http://www.iangallacher.com/news/2011/06/stephen-ireland-engagement-ring/" title="">the £25,000 rock with which he proposed to girlfriend Jessica</a> knocked out of his hand and into the Pacific. Luckily for them, but sadly for those of us who bask in the misfortune of others, the marriage proposal went without a hitch. One sporting marriage proposal that didn't go so well ended with <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtPkxzHKLpk" title="">this disconsolate sod getting rejected in front of thousands mid-match during a Houston Rockets basketball match</a>, only to have further humiliation heaped upon him by sniggering players and a well-meaning giant foam mouse.</p><h2><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2011/jun/02/classic-youtube-sport-clips" title="">Our favourites from last week's blog</a></h2><p>1) Another contender for Worst Miss of All Time - with the goal gaping, Wimbledon's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sJaKMX3b9I&feature=related" title="">John Fashanu somehow manages to hit the bar from two inches out while playing against Manchester United</a> ... on the Amiga in the first ever episode of Gamesmaster (0:50 if you're in a hurry). Awooga indeed. On the subject of computer games, here's some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUcWmxjjBOY" title="">footage of Lionel Messi in full flow</a>, but with a twist.</p><p>2) <a href="http://tube.ua/_custom_channel.php?chid=1390&viewkey=099b7195beaf6e158f17" title="">Poor wakeboarding or precision speed boat driving</a>? Whichever it is, the cameraman certainly found it amusing.</p><p>3) Loud American <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12773427" title="">belly-flops from height of 11m into child's paddling pool containing 30.5cm of water</a> and lives to thank Norway.</p><p>4) In one of his trademark Shaq Attacks, recently retired NBA superstar <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5jMOK87N7A&feature=related" title="">Shaquille O'Neal destroys the back-board</a> but walks away nonchalantly despite getting assaulted by the shot-clock.</p><p>5) <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NspuM7880WA">Spot of midnight kayaking anyone?</a></p><p>6) "LOOK AT THE THROW-PASS!" <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIxGe2SP5uE" title="">Eat your heart out, Rory Delap ...</a></p><p><strong>Spotters' badges: </strong>billsheppard, Baccalieri, Radar, guiguygee, Alachofra, LeeWall, SuperBomberMan.</p><div class="related" style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;"><ul><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/serena-williams">Serena Williams</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/getafe">Getafe</a></li><li><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/tennis">Tennis</a></li></ul></div><br/><div class="terms"><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk">guardian.co.uk</a> &copy; Guardian News & Media Limited 2011 | Use of this content is subject to our <a href="http://users.guardian.co.uk/help/article/0,,933909,00.html">Terms & Conditions</a> | <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/help/feeds">More Feeds</a></div><p style="clear:both" />
