Lead singer of soundgarden, one of my favourite bands.

Only vedder left of the four big Seattle vocalists.

This has hit me rather hard especially as recently I've gotten back into the old grunge big time.

Thanks for the music Chris, say hi to Kurt and layne.

I'm stunned by this. 'You know my name' is the best Bond theme ever.

Yeah, that's really sad. Badmotorfinger was one of my favourite albums of the early 90's and I saw Soundgarden back in '92 supporting Guns 'n' Roses (Faith no More also on the bill). Live, his voice was as good as the recorded versions.

I put my badmotorfinger tshirt on today, then a mate text me through about his death.

I am a big 007 fan and Chris Cornell's " You know my name " from Casino Royale is one of my top Bond theme songs. Sad loss.

they are saying it was suicide :(

I have met very few people who ever truly wanted to be dead, instead most just found the pain of their lives too much to bear and felt like there was no escape from their torment other than killing themselves.

:(

I can't believe it. He was brilliant and no signs of any issues. I suppose that was an issue in itself.

God bless.

I could be wrong, but I think some guys find hitting their 50's pretty tricky, especially so if you are someone who made their name as a handsome guy in their younger years.

Bit like George Michael, Michael Jackson etc the transition to getting older is a huge cause for depression, substance abuse and the like.

Some pull through, others succumb :(

Chris Cornell is in my top 2 vocalists of all time with Brandon Boyd (incubus).

Those are/were two ****ing cool and talented guys.

I too have an original Badmotorfinger tshirt which i scoured the net for, about 5 years ago after my first one was savaged by acid. I see ebay is awash with poor quality copies now.

Badmotorfinger landed a year or two after i started getting into the genre. They got far more commercialised with Superunknown then dropped off again slightly with down on the upside. I've got a single (can't remember which) and it's got a dance version of Dusty which is class.

Although i liked AIC, some Nirvana stuff and Pearl Jam (ten, and a few other bits) none were fit to lace Chris' boots.

Eddie Vedder ****es me off with that affected vocal style a face that looks like he's trying to **** a pineapple.

I was lucky enough to break out of my Rusty Cage back in 1992:

That Soundgarden album was the best

Jesus Christ Pose video is awesome but freaky when you're off your tits.

The chisel being hammered out of the strobing screen and waggled about gives the impression of 3D.
