With Lille saying they don't want Sven Botman to leave them this January window to any other club 'cause of Champions League no doubt.
Duje Caleta-Car - Benoît Badiashile and Carlos Salcedo seem the main contenders now Bruno wants in to strengthen Wolves CB positions?
Any other Defenders you think Wolves / Bruno are interested in?

Feel there are far too many suitors for Badiashile to keep his price in our range, so Caleta-Car seems the most plausible.

The link mentions sky sports news where the rumour originated from yesterday. It could be a baseless rumour with sky sports news knowing we were linked to him in the summer.

Botman not allowed to leave in January is music to my ears.
Newcastle can afford anyone, their recruitment strategy seems to be, wait until another club finds a player then offer more!
But Newcastle need players this month, so we could make agreements with lille for C-Car and Monaco for the injured Badiashile, take them at the end of the season.
If we had the pick of Botman LF, Kilman LF, Mosquera RF, C-Car RF or Badiashile LF as a two-man centreback, i'd be buzzing!!

Yet again, Coady gets no recognition for being the lynchpin of the joint tightest defence in the best football league in the world.
But you’d be ‘buzzing’ to have two defenders from league that’s largely no better than the Championship.
I’m not saying Coady is perfect but a defensive back line is more of a team than other parts of the pitch. We lose Coady, we lose our tight ship.

I know many of you guys want Traore to leave but is there any way someone can transplant his pace into Coady before he leaves? :D

I'm still confused as to why Lage wants more central defenders now. Donc and Marcal can cover Saiss's absence and Boly and Mosquerra are both due back soon I believe. Coady has become central to the way we play and Kilman is by far our POTS. If Lage wants to go to a 4 next season then there may be doubts about Coady but as it is imo we are well covered in central defence.

Maybe he doesn't want a central defender, but in Boly's case, even if he'd been injury-free over the last couple of seasons we'd probably be trying to move him on now that he's hitting 31 in a few weeks and is far from reliable anymore
Saiss is 32 in March and has been one of the best signings of the last 10 years, but he's got 1 season left?

Nobody's really seen Mosquera do anything yet so it's not fair to say he is the answer for high pressure games, so the central defence needs backup for Coady and Kilman who can play for longer. Yes we can push people around to cover those positions for the odd game, but you really want specialist central defenders tightly bedded into the squad ready to come in and strengthen the team rather than just be sticky plasters.
Hoever is the one who is a central defender, but he hasn't had a chance there yet...maybe still too inexperienced for a position in the middle?

We've proven the adage this season at Wolves, it is all about fitting seamlessly into the defensive unit rather than individual prowess. You wouldn't get anybody rating a defence of Saiss, Coady and Kilman as virtually the best in the league, even though the stats are there to prove it. The defensive coaching is better now than under Nuno but we can't rest on it.

I think we should start by lubricating his arms with baby oil. Just hope the captains armband dosen't slip off!
Thinking of Traore and baby oil - he might try putting a bodkin on the outside of his shorts - they might not like the idea of grabbing him so passionately in future.

Could not agree more. We have been crying out for that midfielder for so long! Dendoncker is perfectly capable as a CB.

Agree, and lets not forget he was originally a defender in Belgium...
Also, he's not particular at home in midfield, in Lages style of play.,

Donk will end up in Goal if he moves back any further and if that does not work out then ball boy, failing that and a bit further back then Saturday job on Mr Sizzle behind the North Bank, failing that pulling pints in the Stile , how far can he go......?

Watch the games in recent seasons? Dendoncker is far better as a defender than his midfield exploits

Caleta Car is an upgrade on Wolves CB's even Kilman .. he has a passing accuracy of 90% plus this season would be superb .. I know its youtube but watch his defending and super long passes with either foot
Presumably he’d be comfortable in a back 4?
And in a 3 his most natural position would be on the right?

Isn’t he the chap who said he didn’t want to join us in the summer?

Kind of. His Mrs had just given birth which was one reason given, another alternative was his Mrs didn't want to (possibly because of the first reason) or, as some posters will have you believe, because she looks like she enjoys the sun and sea based on Instagram photos, so there was no way she was moving to the Midlands.

Frankly no one knows the real reason whether it was him, or his Mrs (for whatever reason), but yes, apparently he did turn us down.

Maybe just rose tinted specs but I think we look a lot more attractive now than in the summer!

Carlos Salendo imo looks the most likely defender Fosun / Wolves will sign eventually in this January window..
Firstly 'cause his asking price is low at around £3m that's because his contract expires at the club he's at end of year..
Secondly he's Raul Jiminez Mexican colleague and International player
