Taking my seat for the 2nd half. Let's hope Neves plays a blinder.

Ruben down injured, hope he is ok.
Ruben seems ok, play has resumed.
I notice Portugal's throw-ins, long ones too, often go 20 to 30 yards forwards, so not throwing the ball backwards like England do.

Seems like we have fewer players in the Portugal side now than we did a few years ago.

Neves has been class this season for us. Who else from the Wolves played tonight?

I thought the game seemed to by -pass him 2nd half but he was prowling around in front of the back 4. Having said that you can see he is a special player; he tackles, he passes, he keeps the game moving forward. He's a class act. As said above that 20 year old LB Mendes is some player. Neves was the only Wolves player tonight but Vitinha came on 2nd half and looked lively tbh. Shame it did not work out at Wolves as he too looks a player.

I was in Berlin for Frank Turner's Lost Evenings Festival at the Columbiahalle venue. I saw that The Blarney Irish bar was your Berlin Wolves meeting place for games and wandered down hoping to watch the City game there with a few fans, but sadly they didn't open for the early game. Went there on there Sunday though, landlord was great, playing loads of great music.

When you see the skill and aggression of Jota you realise we've never really replaced him with the same quality.
A fully fit Neto has the same aggression and skill, the difference between the two is that Jota is a much better finisher.

And Jota is much stronger but a fully fit Neto is faster, IMO. It used to amaze me how defenders couldn't knock Jota off the ball despite being twice his size.

Similar players but play it in a different way for sure. As you say Jota is stronger, but Neto is quicker. Jota is a more direct runner with the ball at his feet than Neto but Neto has more of a “trick” to get round players.

The frustration with Neto (which he’s shown this season) is his shooting is about 6 inches off being brilliant, so many shots agonisingly close to be being in the back of the net.

Spot on regarding Neto's finishing, he's almost trying to be too good with it and aiming too much for the corners. If he's missing the target as regularly as he is and I was a coach, I would be telling him to get his head down and go low and hard but less in the corners. I thought this about Traore last season too, just put your foot through it and make sure it's on target at the very least.

Yes, was clear from pretty much his first match for us that he was a special player. Even though long gone now, can't have anything but respect and good feelings to a player who gave some of the very best, most memorable, moments for Wolves in the past 40 years. Saw him on TV a couple of times before he signed, playing in the Champions league and he looked a special talent then, too, probably aged 17 or 18.

The thing about his finishing - he can be a bit dodgy at times! Goes through phases of being far from clinical. Missed plenty of sitters for us (still does), though invariably makes up for it with a scorcher sooner or later.

We really do need Neto to step up his finishing by quite a long way, for him to become the equivalent.

He needs to do one of two things for me. 1) as you say put it target regardless or 2) take a bit of power off it and actually put it in the corner. At the moment he’s trying to do both with every shot and getting it slightly wrong.

Jota was and is fantastic at taking a bit of pace off and almost passing it into the corner of the goal

He’s a modern Wayne Rooney, seems to score his goals in purple patches

Thanks Ebbo. Ecky the Blarney manager, generally opens the Blarney late afternoons, unless Liverpool or Man Utd are playing.
Reason is, he works very late till 4am at weekends, so needs his sleep, despite living above the pub you visited.
Members here have German Sky, watch Wolves games from home these days, we have only met twice in the Blarney since Covid started.
We plan to get our pub meets going again but many members have families, kids, have got use to watching on Sky, and for some it's a good hour away.
Ecky and me, share the same music tastes from the mid 70s and 80s, so I can imagine he played some great stuff. Hope you had a great time in Berlin.

Jota is two footed. Mistake selling him and for such a low fee.
It is not a matter of low fee, he should never been sold no matter what. On this issue Nuno was at fault, he did not give him enough match time.

The same has happened this season with Coady, he should never been lent/sold. His heart has always been at Wolverhampton.

Ecky was great, really hospitable. Played loads of old punk, ska and rock stuff and requests. We went back in after the gig on Sunday and he stayed open late for us.

Yeh, must be difficult to get it all going again after Covid when people get out of the habit. A good venue for meets though, if you can. I chatted to Ecky about a Berlin Wolves.

Berlin was superb, really enjoyed it. Festival was fantastic but Frank always is. Clash Bar was where we spent a lot of time and €, brilliant place, great vibe and music. There’s now a Wolves sticker on the wall in there amongst all the others.

Portugal played for the draw they needed and it cost them. Not for the first time in recent history.
