I'm aware this is a bit egocentric but after posting this effort on the new song thread I felt the need to give it its own thread because I've had a rare moment of almost sober inspiration and wanted to share it - feel free to ignore it though and let it slip down the list or whatever we call the MolMix whotsit.

Anyway, how about this as a song for us to get going? I know folk will rightly say it's too elaborate to catch on but I think that argument misses the point a tad; after all, the '1234' song and 'Nuno had a dream' are both fairly complex, it's just that we'd seen other clubs make them work before us. So to the tune of Panic by the wonderful Smiths:

panic on the streets of Sandwell
panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself (clap, clap)
hopes will rise in the South Bank
North Bank
Steve Bull
Billy Wright
I wonder to myself (clap, clap)
(then straight to...)
Wol-ver-hamp-ton, Wol-ver-hamp-ton
Wol-ver-hamp-ton, Wol-ver-hamp-ton
Wol-ver-hamp-ton Wol-ver-hamp-ton Wol-ver-hamp-ton
Wol-ver-hamp-ton, Wol-ver-hamp-ton...
(ad infinitum..)

You beat me to it!!

Fully endorse this. A little work of genius.

New. 100%
Original. 100%
Inclusive. 100%
Sound great. 100%

We need some social media types to get it on Facebook and Twitter.

For those not aware of the song (there may be the odd philistine on here)...

While you're at it can you re-work This Charming Man into a song about Nuno?

And maybe get Reans to collaborate with you on coverting Rusholme Ruffians into Whitmore Reans Ruffians? Might be a bit more controversial that one! :p

I'm currently working on the Albion are scared of the Wanderers, to the tune of the teachers are scared of the pupils with that wonderful Shostakovich loop hummed menacingly by that cultured lot in the Billy Wright.

Don’t want to upset you, but I’ve been in their directors box & ‘chairmans lounge upwards of a dozen times and never seen him. I think he goes in the lounge immediately next to it (used to be called ELT lounge but not sure now). Hope I’m wrong for you.
We’re in Tunnel Club for that match.

As this is obviously the thread for people with good taste in music, did anyone else notice how the bbc played ‘golden path’ by chemical brothers/flaming lips during football focus? Cracking tune, should be added to the pre-match playlist.

Panic by The Smiths is such a classic that it deserves to be left untouched.

I can do re-writes...wouldn't want to offend.

"Warnock in granola, I know, I know it's cereal..."

Born crowd pleaser me. Always have been.

Love it even though I was never a fan of The Smiths. More of a New Order fan and I really liked Johnny Marr in Electronic. Fantastic guitarist.

Hopes may rise at the Albion
But Darren Moore you’re not safe here
So you head down
To the safety of (Ipswich) town

Panic Verse 3
Burn down the Hawthorns
Hang the Blessed Steve Bruce
Because the crap that you constantly play
It says nothing to me about football

Hang the Moxey Hang the Moxey Hang the Moxey

Etc etc

I was obsessed with New Order from the end of the Joy Division era, up to me leaving Uni in mid 90’s- then getting a job, family life took over. I was also very much into dance music at Uni, although some certain substances may have had summit to do with that... loved The Shamen, even though they did over commercialise in latter years. Now I’m officially middle-aged, give me some ELO and a hobnob biscuit to dunk into a cup of tea, and I’m a happy man.

Stop being an old man and get back into NO, they’re still doing good new music and they’re great live, all the old music including Joy Division as well as new stuff!! o_O

Haha. You’re right- should stop being old- my lad has just turned 18, so feeling a bit middle aged at the moment. When the lineup changed (Hooky left, etc) went off them a bit. Haven’t listened to their new stuff for a while.

I’ve gone past middle-aged,now old-aged, my lad’s 21!

Agreed not the same since Hooky left but Gillian’s back and the replacement for Hooky is very good. They’re doing loads of gigs these days and they’re really tight. I’m seeing them at Ally Pally in November and really looking forward to it.

I’ll do a bit of Spotifying, and try and get back into it. Thanks bud.
