Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Wolves yesterday at the City Ground and it remains to be seen whether this was a point gained or two dropped. Brian Laws felt that one player was class for the Reds, however.
The Reds came from behind to lead and then relinquished the advantage to hand the away side a share of the spoils in this one.
Forest and Wolves have a bit of history. Last season there was some bad blood after the Reds beat the West Midlanders in the Carabao Cup during the 2022/23 camping.
Yesterday, this game was an intriguing one with both clubs enjoying contrasting campaigns. Forest need the points to remain a Premier League outfit whilst Wolves are arguably on the beach.
Still, this was a game that Forest felt they could win with the remaining games they have things are now becoming pretty perilous towards the bottom of the Premier League.
After yesterday, Laws raved about one player who was in the Forest red. He was doing co-commentary on BBC Radio Nottingham and one man came in for some serious praise.
The Reds were pretty decent yesterday but ultimately the Achilles heel struck Forest and they conceded from yet another set piece.
Still, there were some positives to take – and one of those was the display shown by Forest midfielder Danilo.
The 22-year-old scored another goal to put Forest in the lead during the second half and Laws had some praise for the Brazilian.
He said on BBC Radio Nottingham: “He’s had a great second half so far… his calmness to slot the ball away under pressure was outstanding!”
Danilo’s finish was frankly superb and he showcased why he’s got such a high ceiling with a finish akin to a season centre forward.
It’s been great to see Danilo thrive at Forest and there’s an argument that Danilo hasn’t played enough.
He recently came back into the team and did exceptionally well – linking up really nicely with Morgan Gibbs-White against Fulham.
Danilo is a superb player on his day and it was great to see him get on the score sheet yesterday and notch another goal.
The youngster is a quality addition to the ranks and Forest are a better side at the moment with Danilo in the team.
If the Reds are relegated this season, keeping Danilo will be extremely difficult, and hopefully won’t come to that.
