If we have a tight budget would you prefer to see the money spent now or basically go with what we have got and give the new manager time to spend later where he thinks best?

Fosuns strategy so far seems to have been on the whole not to rush out and make panic buys , but have been prepared to wait to get the right player who will best fit attributes they are looking for. I guess a lot will depend on if any of the current squad will want out now Nuno has gone in which case there could be a fair few outgoings so new manager would need to be given all the money from sales at least to sign replacements. I think in the short term Fosun would prefer to keep the large part of the squad together and for new manager to have money add one or 2 quality players as well as looking at who from youth team can make a push for the first team squad, with any other signings probably needing to be funded by a sale

The major advantage of the timing of this change is that there will be time for a new manager to come in asses everything and be involved in the decisions.

Doubt much transfer activity would happen till after Euro’s anyway.

When the new manager comes in tell him that he has free reign over the squad apart from Neves and Neto and to build a squad around them. Give him £100 million and tell him that funding above that will have to be financed by offloading players.

edit: make it £126 million with that windfall payment or whatever

So our current squad (without Ait Nouri, Jose and Vitinha)

GK- Patricio, Sondergaard
CB - Coady, Boly, Saiss, Kilman, Marcal, Sanderson
LB - Jonny, Vinagre
RB - Semedo, Hoever
MF - Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Otasowie, Gibbs-White
WG - Neto, Podence, Traore,
FWD - Raul, Silva, Mir, Cutrone

could probably add Ait-Nouri and Vitinha to that squad.

Whoever comes in they all start with a clean slate. We have three that are long term injuries that have to have some replacement. And hopefully a driving midfielder and a decent CB.

Not a bad staring point IMHO

Sell where necessary / deemed to be surplus to requirements by the new manager. A couple of loan signings. Top up with shining stars from the U23s. Next season will arguably be the season with the least pressure on the squad since we were promoted, so let's give the young players a chance to make mistakes, learn on the job with a new manager and a new way of thinking and find out if they really are good enough to play in the Premiership - I'm looking at you: Gibbs-White, Sonergaard, Kilman, Sanderson, Giles, Otasowie, Mir, Jordao.

Then, in 2022/23 let's go balls deep in the transfer market and sign 5 Galacticos

We have a decent squad that for so many different reasons have under performed this season. If the right coach can do some tweaks here and there and add to it when he has assessed our weak points we will be fine. A fully fit Raul,Traore,Neto, Podence and young Silva is more than good enough to unlock Premier defences. Backed by an attacking midfield and a new stronger back line we may be able to move forward. I salute Nuno for his work which was nothing short of superb but we enter a new phase now and I just hope the new appointment is one that can harness and mould an already good squad into a genuine challenger to the top 6.

Agreed.

I think a good manager could take that squad, sell a couple, buy a couple and turn them into proper contenders again.

If he has been told our priorities are a RCB and a midfielder with pace and aggressiveness then with the names mentioned so far they should already know of the type of player that fits the bill.
