Not sure if anyone on here follows him on Twitter, but he's been extremely generous in that he's built up a huge Twitter following, and now hands his account over to campaigns that otherwise wouldn't get so much attention. Many of the people to whom he's given a voice so far have included sex-workers, mental health workers, and other sections of society that don't have a prominent voice. I think the guy deserves a lot of respect for what he is doing, and wanted to share it. @NevilleSouthall

A couple of people I know have taken over his twitter account recently and they've nothing but praise for him. His desire to listen and learn is incredible and he's done such an extraordinary amount to support so many marginalised and oppressed communities. God bless him.

Seems a great bloke, doing some great work.

To be fair a lot of footballers do some great work that they aren’t given the credit for.

Shame the newspapers don’t do more focus on the huge amount of positive work the football community as a whole does.

Played football with Nev at Winsford United and he is a real character. Fantastic goalkeeper. I remember watching a game against Burscough. They totally dominated the game but Nev pulled off worldy after worldy. We had 7 shots on goal and scored each one. An unbelievable game. He was sold to Bury at the end of that season. Memory thinks it was for £6k. Check the archives ’stattos’ for that one!

One thing, though, whether you agree with his views or not he is very sincere and genuine in his concerns for our society. Nev is definitely not a champagne socialist but a very caring guy.
He was back at Winsford a few weeks ago for a sportsman’s dinner. He really is ‘big Nev’ nowadays but he was and still is ‘as honest as the days long’!

Always liked him since he made a fool of Michael Owen in that coaching video years ago, the biggest nob in football in my opinion. Smashing balls past a 13-year-old and celebrating and laughing as if he was in a real game, to which Southall replied 'well done he's 13'.
