It's too reasoned & balanced, it's not dogmatic & judgemental enough for the crusading feminists & politically correct.

Though he suggest some allegations might be false (in saying about confidentiality agreements, that you might have to pay someone to be quiet just cuz of cost benefit analysis, even though you hadn't done it, just bight your lip & accept it. And he did say about how he might deal with an accused colleague, that he'd consider how believable the accusation was. Which is all reasonable, but conflicts with the metoo# mantra, that all these allegations are true and that women simply need to be believed. Maybe if America had just had this case they wouldn't demand it's such a simple issue:

Someone accused of rape with victim testimony so convincing the CPS thought it would secure a Jury conviction (beyond a reasonable doubt), only for phone records to end up proving it was a completely false allegation.

I think he mentioned the 'watershed moment' and that's about the only thing he said of any merit but it's safe to assume that Hollywood and other places of power/money are cesspits . I think the way forward is two-fold in that behaviour like what we read be completely taken to task for what it is wherever and whenever it occurs and that the media/advertisers stop sexualising women in general which IMO leads to the exploitation of both men and women - the catalyst being monetary gain. It serves no social value.

Nothing wrong was said by Damon, but we live in a society populated by hysterical ranting banshees on social media who seem to have a sole purpose in life to find offence at anything. As he stated, behaviour is on a spectrum but this means of course according to these ridiculous individuals it means he is actively condoning it. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...mon-abc-interview_us_5a348697e4b01d429cc8fc19

And those extremists will destroy the metoo# campaigns integrity. Katty Kay of BBC America has already written an article on this, Matt Damon wasn't really out of line with this view at all, but the feminists / extremists didn't attack this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42200092

It's a shame, cuz there's obviously real abusers out there, and real victims (though these are privileged & it's arguably first World problems compared to other women's situations, it must be going on lots at all levels):

Here's the latest. Mini Driver reckoning a clumsy inappropriate pass is the same as rape, that there's no spectrum, it's all as bad.

That's me out, I call the metoo# campaign an abusive fraud by dishonest empire building feminists on the make. Lost my support now, not interested in their dramas anymore.

Bored waiting for your response fella, I have things to do but often a tactic from the victim lobby resorting to insults when they are infact backwards themselves - enjoy putting the fairy on your tree or is that homophobic... dismissed.

I am busy. I haven't got time to sit on here waiting for you to spout rubbish.

I will jump to womens defence in the face of a twisted opinion like this: "The simple fact is many womens brains like this individual don't work properly". It is misogyny.

I read about this at the weekend and have just read it again and still can't see what the problem is with what he said? From what I can see he's saying the minor ones such as touching a woman's bottom to the major ones such as rape and child abuse are all wrong but they should not be treated the same? If that's what he's saying then why would anyone argue against it?

I think a theme is developing, just like with racism, where some extremist liberals think that men cannot have an opinion on sexual abuse, only women can discuss it.

I'm not arguing against that in fact I can see the sense in what he's said. What Minnie Driver has said in her response seems over the top/extreme but I can't comment from a position of experience as I've not been subjected to unwanted attention or abuse. I doubt that many men have either. As far as I remember she said that at the beginning - that men aren't in a position to say what abuse is like. I've never had my **** pinched at work, then again I've never undone my top button to get my Bristols out to get things done. I've seen both things in the workplace and more.

I think the sexual imagery promoted by the media to earn £ and the easily accessible pornography can reinforce misogyny or the idea that men are there to be exploited/manipulated by taking your clothes off.

in an Interesting twist: today was put forward by an old school actor that back in the day some women actors made it quite clear they were happy to exchange sex in order to get a part in the movie

I was going to post the link but the story seems to have totally disappeared. it was on the main page of the BBC this morn, now nothing

weird!
