I have been following Wolves since 1972 and yesterday after Matheus's Magnificent Treble I began to think, do I recall any other Wolves player scoring a hat-trick in top flight away match in my 52 years as a fan. I have done some research and I cannot find anyone.

The answer I have as the player to score the last away hat-trick is Ray Crawford, who scored 3 at Bolton in the 1963/64 campaign in a 4-0 win. Peter Knowles got the other goal. The other two things that stand out about that match was the date, Friday April 24th. One is the final game of the season being a Friday and the fact to all of us who follow football in this era that April 24th was it for the league season !

Just out of interest I have posted the players who have scored 3 or more goals for Wolves in a top tier league game since the start of the first full season of me being a fan, 1972-73 .

1972/73 John Richards 3 in a 5-3 win over Stoke on September 30th 1972, The Doug got 3 v Man City on March 3rd 1973, King John bagged another 3 home to Everton on April 14th 1973.

1974/75 Kenny Hibbitt 4 in a 4-2 win versus Newcastle on 24th August 1974 then Kenny scored 3 more in a 5-2 home win over Luton on 31st March 1975

1975/76 JR got another 3 in a 5-0 stuffing of Newcastle. This was also the season he came on as a sub in an FA Cup game versus Charlton and scored all 3 !!

1977/78 That man King John does it again with 3 against Leicester on October 1st 1977. That was the last top flight hat trick by a Wolves player ( prior to yesterday ) until a certain Diogo Jota got three versus Leicester on Saturday January 19th 2019 !!!!!!

My immediate thought was 'What about Bully's four goals at Newcastle?' Then I remembered that Bully never played in the top tier for us, or for anyone else.
It seems strange now to think of Newcastle v Wolves being in the old second division.

It was a fantastic day out seeing Cunha’s hat trick, and the complete demolition of a billion pound team.
The only other away hat tricks I have seen were Darren Roberts against Blues away in 1992 and John De Wolf in 1995 both great days out, but yesterday will live long in the memory.

Didn’t think they were top flight then , what do I know
Quote from Wiki (l know!):
"He made his league debut as a substitute against QPR, away, on 12 April 1986 (lost 1–0), and his full debut at home to Sheffield Wednesday on 22 April (drew 1-1); they were his only league appearances that season and only appearances in top flight football."

That’s great research, I’ve been a fan for slightly longer than you but my first away game was still after the last away league hat trick.
Of course Jota got three Wolves hat tricks, Espanyol and Besiktas as well as that one against Leicester

I can remember a few going the other way. De Bruyne recently and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink away at Chelsea after we were leading 2-1, there are probably a few more but I do my best to forget them :)
