You'd have to assume Nuno know's him very well from his time in Portugal and looks like he gives the squad depth in both the LWB and LCB positions. Cheap and experienced to balance out our wonderkids maybe

Plus, as discussed on the other thread, this guy started at LCB in the Champions League semi final so the pedigree is there even if its not a signing for the long haul

Looks like he scored a spectacular own goal against PSG which might be part of the reason, and they say he gets carded a lot at LWB

It’s an odd one as looking at his stats he seems to have been a back up at Lyon playing 10- 15 games a year. He did play their last few games in the Champions league including games against Leipzig, Juventus, Man City and Bayern Munich. Who Scored says he has many of the skills we look for eg Passing etc to make a good LCD but is rated weak at discipline and concentration.

He does originally come from the same team as Pepe, Grêmio so could be a player bought to help another settle.

Seems like cheap experienced cover for Vinagre, which is no bad thing. I've said previously RV needs to back himself if a big name comes in at LWB. But this looks more like a vote of confidence for him. Wont be popping the champagne for it if it happens, but am happy for the squad depth it gives us.

Pretty much this, end of the day we can’t afford big money on back ups at this point and the club believes in Vinagre as the starter.

To be fair, if you're going to score an own goal, you may as well 'go big' like this, leave nothing to doubt and get a decent highlights out of it to laugh at in years to come. Pretty sure that's how Phil Jones works anyway.
