Leeds United are on red-alert for the January transfer window with the agent of Cagliari midfielder, Nahitan Nandez, suggesting his client is on the move in the winter.
Nandez came close to leaving the Italian side in the summer. At the time, Leeds and Spurs were both showing strong interest. However, neither club was willing to pay around £26m for the Uruguayan star.
25-year-old Nandez was especially courted by Leeds. The Whites were keen to add a new midfielder. And while they signed a winger in Dan James, the midfield area remains untouched.

However, Andrea Radrizzani might well like what he’s hearing from the agent of Nandez, Pablo Bentancur. He has told the Italian press that Nandez will be leaving in January, with a promise from the Cagliari board.
“Cagliari? Giulini has promised the player and me to do everything possible so that he leaves in the January market,” Bentancur told Calcio Napoli 24.
“Nandez wants to win something; he wants to play in the Champions League. The president has given us his word. I think he will sell him at a lower price than the one requested, there is a €36m clause, but the President spoke yesterday with Nandez and told him that he will lower the price and let him leave.”
The poor start to the campaign could well tempt Leeds into some business in January, that’s for sure. And in Nandez, they could get a player who has been on their radar for some time now.
With Cagliari apparently now willing to sell, there won’t ever be a better time for Leeds to strike when it comes to Nandez. Of course, Spurs might also fancy their chances.
It could well end up being a straight battle. Both Fabio Paratici and Radrizzani have contacts in Serie A. And while the agent mentions trophies, it could well come down to money, as it so often does.
The post Leeds told they can sign long-time £26m target in January; Tottenham also in the mix appeared first on The Boot Room.
