Put down this morning due to a broken pelvis following a seemingly innocuous fall in a small paddock at home.

This is the horse that jumped his way to five King Georges, four Betfair Chases and two Gold Cups.....the irony is as painful as the news itself.

Too short a retirement for, Arkle aside, perhaps the greatest chaser of them all. The term 'classy' could have been coined for him. Certainly the best I ever saw.

Cruel shame.

Same here, the 2009 King George performance was in the Arkle bracket and probably close to a 200 rating.
2. Madison du Berlais: a good consistent 165+. Beaten 36L
3. Barber Shop: a good consistent 150+: Beaten 37L
4. Nacarat: a good consistent 154-158 chaser. Beaten 41L

They can't have all had an off day and ran pretty much to form, KS was eased close home!

2009 Gold Cup day was also a fabulous day.
