Ticks all the boxes for the type of player we need. Experienced, solid, good on the ball and use to playing in a back 3.

There'll be plenty in for him.

Would be a great pick up but wages would probably be way too high

No thanks. Made a fortune, peaked at club level and dropped by England. On the way down, prefer a player on the up.

I can't believe people say no. Yes we want players on the way up but experience, winning things, played in a back 3 before, ticks a lot of boxes and would be ideal even if its just a season he would offer so much.
Old, English, big fee, massive wages.
Also ticks a lot of "no chance"-boxes if that makes sense.

If you wouldn't take Gary Cahill, a player with 61 England caps and nearly 400 Premier League appearances, you need your head checking. His experience would be massive for us. Obviously I doubt it because a player like that would be on huge wages so more likely to end up at West Ham or Everton, but yes I would 100% take him.

If it were Championship level Cahill would be a fantastic signing (As was Ince/Irwin). This is the PL ...
Its always a gamble. One last payday or one last challenge? I would however be surprised if he was in Nuno's mind.

I would snap him up, though if Wolves did go for him there would be plenty of competition.

Obviously he's played at the very top the last 5 years and successfully. He'd even be better than Boly.

No thanks. Too much like Terry at Villa. Massive wages, likely wouldn't be *****. Plus his positioning is suspect nowadays and my local bin truck turns quicker.

John Terry is 37 and was fairly successful at Villa

Seriously? Why are so many suffering from such a huge inferiority complex?
We shouldn't even be thinking about ageing stars on the way out getting one last pay check off the backs of our club.
Haven't you cried enough about the increase in the price of the season ticket, and wailed injustice about the silver package. Now you want your money to pay for someone's last Ferrari?
WE MAKE THE STARS! We don't ****ing sponsor their retirement.

On your bike.

Two Premier League titles, 60+ England caps, 400+ Premier League appearances (250+ for a top 6 side), but apparently he can't control, carry or pass a football :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
Again, seriously?
So you want him because of past glory? Name on shirt bragging rights?
SO you can strut around saying "weem big, we have Cahill".
He can proably still control, carry and pass a football. No doubt.
But so can a younger player with less star pull.

Some people don't care, they're just star struck.

It's like the middle aged man's equivalent of Justin Bieber fans.
Would you scream his name too?

Patricio isn't up and coming, neither is Jimenez?
Patricio has at least 5-7 good years at his peak. Jimenez is on loan. At least try and find some apples to go with your oranges.

The high wages would be a problem, but could be offset against a presumably low transfer fee. I echo the sentiment of incredulity that a player who was part of the England world cup squad and with a wealth of top level experience isn't good enough for us. A back five containing Patricio, Boly and Cahill would be excellent.

Cahill instead of Coady?
Sure he's a bigger name.
But I prefer Coady thank you.

I don’t think he’s the kind of player we’re looking for for our project! Young, talented and aspiring for future greatness. Of course he’s still a good player, but would he fit into our ethos of a team of players who will build the careers whilst making us great again?

I want him because he improves the team.

Personally, I'd prefer someone like Mawson or an obscure Albanian wonderkid that no one has heard of over an ageing star.

And I'd only scream his name in private.

Or it's because he's a bloody good defender...

Fair enough then.
