Never seen him play to be honest. Sounds exciting though. Not that he's interested.

Neither did I. I think its more likely personal terms - im sure we can stump up the cash as we have already suppose to have bid this much for someone like soumare. It will be can we get personal terms across the line to get him to join - and if milan want to sell.
Time is against us too

Reckon Milan want rid so could go down to the wire on this one. Can’t see us bowing down to personal terms though so this could be the stumbling block

My number one transfer target. I saw plenty of him when he was at Atalanta.

I can see why Nuno would prioritise Kessie above a CAM, because Kessie would fit the system we play now. He covers lots of ground, likes a tackle, likes a shot, can run with the ball. Surprisingly good dribbler, so unlike Moutinho, Neves or Donk, he's the sort of midfielder who will get the ball deep and rather than lay it off, he'll charge up the field with it.

Very good all rounder. And for those who've compared him to N'diaye, he's absolutely nothing like him.

If we’ve got as far as personal terms, Milan are clearly happy to sell
No we haven't had a bid accepted yet they rejected the 26 euro million, whats being said is that If we do get to the stage of personal terms its going to be hard to get them across the line.

Good article on the Atlantic on how transfers work in reality. It quotes a sporting director saying 95% of players are tapped up before any offer to the selling club is made to see if there's genuine interest from the player, with personal terms pretty much agreed then.

Given that it would seem odd that Wolves would be at this stage with Milan and Kessie adamant he doesn't want to come.

Don't believe what the papers say. It's either agent talk for he wants more money, a safety net if the transfer falls though, so he can say he never wanted to leave or an opinion work about how much better there club/league is and why would he want to leave

It's literally the same point, we are a small club in comparision to the level we are aspiring towards, however our management in Fosun (and to a lesser extent, Mendes) has done a great job in convincing a good few players to come along (be those means through money, promises, projects, being in the Premier League, and so forth), these players are not joining because of our history or past, and certainly not our 'size'. Stop being obtuse as always Jim.

You don't suddenly say 'we are going to be a big club,' and then automatically become one.

It took Spurs the best part of a decade to crack getting into the CL and become a destination, it took City with all the money they initially had a good few years before any big player would give them a second glance.

You are comparing one of the biggest clubs in the world in AC Milan, to ourselves, which in that comparision we are an exceptionally small club.

I never even suggested that they are joining Wolves because of our worldwide reputation though, of course we cannot compete against the likes of AC Milan in terms of that yet but when people say we are no different to Burnley last season, then they are talking nonsense. We obviously can't compete with the elite level clubs for players but outside that, I think we are as good a destination for a player as any. We tick a lot of boxes - a top league, a club making rapid progress and already competing and beating the top clubs, a strong possibility of European football this season and if we do make it then I'd rank us as having an outside chance of winning the competition. We have one of the best manager's in the game, 30k passionate home support, a group of top players already and a growing reputation of playing good football.

Bump... seemed appropriate!

Game on? Or not?

Live more in hope than expectation

If rumours/info are right we have a massive gap in wage offered and wage requested

Be hard close that distance to agreeable for both parties

Guess we’ll see soon enough... could be more twitter nonsense. We live in hope, however - he’d be a great signing.

Seems to be a big gap in what he wants wage wise and what we are supposedly offering. Hope a compromise can be reached.

Really like what I have seen of him and would give us a different dimension to the midfield, than we currently have, having a player who likes to run with the ball from the central area. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: A football radio show here just said it is completed (with the club). £25M plus ad-ons. May need to come to terms with player.

Wolves have reportedly agreed a €25m plus €3m bonus fee for Franck Kessie, but the Milan midfielder wants a big salary increase.
According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the Rossoneri accepted the offer of €25m plus €3m in various add-ons.
However, it’s a race against time to get the contract finalised ahead of the Premier League deadline, which is on Thursday at 17.00 UK time.
The Ivory Coast international currently earns €2.5m per year, but is said to be asking for a wage closer to €4m.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have seemingly proposed €2.8m and it’s a very big gap to be negotiated down in a short space of time.

guess we'll know tomorrow

Tick tock yes Kessie would be great but no definite green lights anywhere and its far too late to get a complicated high profile deal through especially as the player is apparently lukewarm to say the least and no bid has been accepted as far as we know (one report does claim a fee may have been agreed). Surely too many hurdles to overcome at this late stage, especially salary wise.

Prepare to be disappointed tomorrow bar highly unlikely last minute miracles. Leaving things so late is nearly always a recipe for failure in bringing someone in or being rushed into rash and often highly over priced deals. But who knows what background machinations have been going on.
If Wolves had really wanted Kessie enough they would have opened up the wallet two or three weeks ago on the back of the Cutrone deal imv.
Other supposed 'bids' have all apparently fallen short. How much of that is madly inflated demands and how much a lack of ambition or negotiating skill is very hard to say. But the bottom line is that over a whole summer Cutrone is the only substantive signing with Vallejo being a useful loan deal for someone likely to return to RM after lengthening his contract there. Other business is entirely peripheral to any hopes of further progress this season.
So on the face of it a poor return from all the supposed research work and files of Thelwell and co.

Of course clinching Jiminez and Dendoncker should not be forgotten. But our A team is pretty much unchanged from last season and I wonder what kind of message that sends out to our crown jewels, Ruben and Diogo, as they look to their futures beyond the coming season? We are in deep waters now and to catch up with the big boys is a very expensive business even if your youth policy is relatively productive and you get the odd bargain thanks to Mendes.

When were Nash or Spiers ever on the money about Wolves signings? Apart from when the cat is already completely out the bag? I mean seriously, what use have they ever been as a guide to what's going on at Wolves? I'm not saying Kessie is signing but I wouldn't make a judgement based on their tweets.

If true, the fee side is sorted, and just the wages to settle. So he’s on £44k/week at the moment and is seeking £70k/week, and we’ve offered £50k/week. Anyone know how this compares to the current wages of Jota and Neves?

I think we'll get a midfielder, and think we'll have a few irons in the fire that are close but not finalised, giving our first choice(s) as long as possible to make the deal before we make a decision. It's simply keeping our options open as opposed to leaving everything late, we want our top targets. We apparently made the approach for Cutrone very early in the window but it took an age to happen. We're after players who have a decision to make to come to us, rather than players who will jump at the chance and if some of those were hoping for a move to a bigger PL club that's now not materialising, tomorrow is their last chance.

A lot of clubs have left it late, so to speak, it's another downside to having a window that shuts earlier than the rest of Europe. Tomorrow will be mental, players going everywhere

Hope you are right of course but a lot of deals have been clinched away from that final manic 24 hour slot. The whole system is crazy but admittedly exciting also.

Anyone up for a whip round? We'll get that extra 15 grand a week no problem!

And we've clinched two pretty decent ones so far on the face of it ;)

The cash cow that is the PL closes it's doors to foreign deals tomorrow, big things will happen and I have faith we'll get that dynamic midfielder we're after. Anything else would be a huge bonus

You have just as much chance going back to a club who need to sell and getting a reduced price than getting an inflated one. Milan wanted €40 million for Kessie earlier in window. Marseille wanted €25 million for Sanson. If both players move it will be for much less due to buying club waiting.

Everyone clamouring for a signing for signings sake does realise that he's not the AM you all crave, right?
