Why do we struggle so bad to get the ball past the first man from a corner or free kick? It happens so many times.

Surely this is a pretty basic thing and something that a professional footballer has the ability to achieve!

Conor Hunte has looked pretty lively in his couple of appearances and seems promising.

That is, until he steps up to the corner flag and fails to beat the first man again.

You would have thought that somebody at the club would notice this...professionals as they are....

It's frustrating when they play football most days. I think someone like Price would be good at taking deadballs

He took a corner in the first half and fluffed it straight to the first man, I reckon there are people in the crowd that could take better corners than our lot.

Yes that's right how did I ever forget ha. I think taller players are better at lifting the ball our midfield is rather small. Maybe get Iorfa or Hause/ Doherty to practise taking them no I'm not joking they are good enough at hoofing the ball the rest of the time :p

It's one of my biggest pet-hates in football. It's not just us but we are bad.

Sometimes you are specifically aiming for a runner to get a near post flick so invariably that can go wrong but if you aren't I think players should be fined every time they hit the first man.

That would get them focused and practicing it more, it's unforgivable.

The standard of corners across the leagues is dreadful. It ain't just us that's for sure

It's not just us for sure. It does seem ridiculous that it happens so much, however I think the point is that anyone (even I) could take a corner and land the ball somewhere around the penalty spot on a high trajectory, but these balls are also very easy to defend. What they are trying to do is hit a fast flat ball just over the first defender, which is a hard skill. Sako used to be the epitomy for me, two thirds of his corners were awful, but the other third were perfect, this is much better than players who lob balls into the keeper's hands endlessly.

The conversion rate of corners is crap anyway. I have no idea why people get excited over them.

You would think that these professional players and management could address a weakness... Joke of a profession in my eyes.

To be fair we've been pretty $$$$ at corners since Paul Cook played for us. I remember us bringing Gordon Cowans in from Villa, he had a reputation as a bit of a dead ball specialist, joined us and every corner was radar guided into the keepers gloves.

Set pieces, apart from when Jordan Graham was playing, have been Sunday league standard all season.

Jordan Graham's corners were v good and led to the good spell we had over Xmas most his assists were from dead balls.

Sako's set pieces were hit and miss, always thought milijas took a wicked set piece

When Sako first joined his set pieces were brilliant, then he got to a point and they all went a bit hit and miss, he'd either fire a free kick into the bottom corner, or hit the corner flag.
