Almiron? Roque Santa Cruz?I'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
Edited: and that's me out!

Was it Paraguay that had a player called Chique Arce at one of the world cups?Almiron? Roque Santa Cruz?
Edited: and that's me out!
I remember a player called Arce but not his nationality... just how the commentators tip-toed around his name. A bit like they added an imaginary umlaut to Stefan Kuntz. Was it Paraguay that had a player called Chique Arce at one of the world cups?
Panama, mate, not Paraguay.I'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
Groan. You are right. Been a long day....Panama, mate, not Paraguay.
Yeah!! Crush that positivity!!!!Amazing how a player noone had heard of a day ago is suddenly being touted by some as the next Maradona. The fact is he is an 18 year old winger of promise who has operated in a league for a smattering of games that is probably Championship at best level and probably worse. Let's hope he is eventually the real deal but for the moment he is an U.21 player who will neeed a good year to find his feet.
What we need are first team players . Unproven 18 year olds are nice but not needed. This is EXACTLY what we need to do more of. Low risk signings for good fees.
Fantasy football did this thing where they put players surnames together they put his with BagheriWas it Paraguay that had a player called Chique Arce at one of the world cups?
Reminds me of the pearl of prestatyn , a right Royle loffEnso is dubbed the pearl of paraguay.
And screw that Santa guy he's not even realAmazing how a player noone had heard of a day ago is suddenly being touted by some as the next Maradona. So equally you knew absolutely nothing about him either but can write this assessment with total confidenceAmazing how a player noone had heard of a day ago is suddenly being touted by some as the next Maradona. Vile had a trio of Brown,Oscar Arce and Barry? Hole.I remember a player called Arce but not his nationality... just how the commentators tip-toed around his name. A bit like they added an imaginary umlaut to Stefan Kuntz.
Which is probably why JL praised him when leaving while saying nothing about Shi/Fosun.Does feel that hobbs knows what he's doing with transfers. Not his fault we couldn't spend.
There was a popular musical group called Los Paraguayos in the 60s...I'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
Meh, didn't score nearly as many as Rogerio Ceni of BrazilDidn’t Paraguay have a penalty kick taking keeper - Chilavert???
Edit: found him:

I disagree. We need a constant stream of those coming in. If we aim to be a player trading club (which Fosun have explicitly said we do, previously), we need to bring in uncut gems every season and hope one of them is a starletWhat we need are first team players . Unproven 18 year olds are nice but not needed.
Alot. What am I missing today? We have signed this kid and an experienced CB right? One clearly not ready, one first team ready. Why are we only focusing on this kid? Is the other deal not official?
Duran?I'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
Totally agree with this and never understood why us with FFP we haven't signed similar players throughout the current window. Then hopefully 2/3 come off next season and build on that .I disagree. We need a constant stream of those coming in. If we aim to be a player trading club (which Fosun have explicitly said we do, previously), we need to bring in uncut gems every season and hope one of them is a starlet
Duran?
Were there two of them? …
I just found a “10 most famous Paraguayans” article and Roque Santa Cruz was number 1.. so I left if at that.I'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
love a dribbler also from a distant he looks like messi.
Clue is in the thread title mate. What am I missing today? We have signed this kid and an experienced CB right? One clearly not ready, one first team ready. Why are we only focusing on this kid? Is the other deal not official?
I know he is 18 and only played a few first class games in Paraguay's leading division. He is one for the future that is all. Hopefully will develop fast but its a huge cultural leap for such a young man.So equally you knew absolutely nothing about him either but can write this assessment with total confidence
No just be realistic rather than living in dreamland. The Premier League is unforgiving and young players need protection from unrealistic expectations. See Fabio for details who was also 18 when he arrived.Yeah!! Crush that positivity!!!!
My favourite all time boxerI'm now trying to think of any other famous Paraguayans apart from the legendary Roberto Duran...
Free kicks too iirc - very good at them as wellDidn’t Paraguay have a penalty kick taking keeper - Chilavert???

I have signed photo in my room.My favourite all time boxer
No mas........I have signed photo in my room.
Leonard had to fight him when he’d been partying and was overweight - only way he could beat himI was more of a Hagler fan myself. Still think he beat Leonard.
Duran, Hearns, Hagler, Leonard..No mas........
Still can't believe that. He was tough as nails. Great era for middleweight when you add in Tommie Hearns as well.
And apologies for taking this off topic by discussing a Panamanian!
Of him presumablyI have signed photo in my room.
Amazing era for boxing genuine world class fighters everywhere and with real character tooNo mas........
