from the BBC...

Wolves in cruise control

upload_2018-1-19_13-50-37.gifThis from the good folk at Opta:
Wolves have won 19 games in the Championship this term; of the 12 previous teams to have won exactly that many of their opening 27 games in a second-tier campaign, only one has failed to win promotion (Manchester City in 1895/96). Coasting.

On the Derby forum one of their lot went through our run in and made a fairly conservative prediction for each of our games (i.e. way off our current pace), and when all was said and done they reckon Derby would still need to win 15 out of their final 19 games to even draw level.

It really would take a catastrophic dip in form for us to lose it now.

This is it :

Rampage's worst scenario for Wolves

Possible mini banana skins in bold

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Nottingham Forest

Ipswich Town15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers17:30Sheffield United DRAW

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Queens Park Rangers

Preston North End15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers DRAW

Wolverhampton Wanderers19:45Norwich City

Fulham17:30Wolverhampton Wanderers LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers17:30Reading

Leeds United19:45Wolverhampton Wanderers DRAW

Aston Villa15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Burton Albion

Middlesbrough19:45Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Hull City

Cardiff City15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers19:45Derby County LOSS

Wolverhampton Wanderers13:00Birmingham City

Bolton Wanderers15:00Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Sheffield W

Sunderland12:30Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wildest dreams is 21 points dropped. So out of remaining 57 points they only get 36

36 plus 62 already gained is 98 points

Derby would need 46 points from 19 games or W15 D1 L3

Our best/only chance is to remain unbeaten until the end of the season

This needs to be made a sticky on every page of every match thread.

98 points should do it!!

We only need 10 wins to be sure, that's 92 and home and dry

9 would probably do it

9 from 19? - i.e. 27 points from 57 - should not be that hard in all honesty

win tomorrow and 8 from 18 is even better - look at some of those home games: Sheff W, Burton, B'ham, Hull, Norwich -

Our home form alone should do it - 10 home games left ALL winnable or worst case drop the odd point.

Funny, Doing a Wolves could also refer to the double relegation freefall like Sunderland is doing now.

Not never... the last time we won there was 1951

I know, might as well be never though. It's not like we haven't had enough shots at it.

If we don't do it this year we never will!

Or having the highest ever points total not to make the playoffs (78) or finishing outside the playoffs by 1 goal (level on points) or by having the second highest total in history to be relegated from the second tier......

We don’t only have to win these games, we have to win these games. It will be hard, there are a lot of good teams and players in this division, I hope the players aren’t this complacent and have more respect for their opponents, the points we have to date is in some ways irrelevant to the points we get going forward UTW.

I'm getting bored of saying it but... one match at a time, relax, enjoy it. These are the best days I've known in my lifetime don't wish them away. Soak up every minute. **** the stats and predictions

The same Barnsley who we’ve taken 4 points off this season, sit in 19th place and are 35 points behind us?
The point is anyone can take points off anyone in this division, and actually a point at Oakwell is good. We’re in a healthy position, but no one gets promoted in January, nothing wrong with a bit of confidence, but lots wrong with complacency or even arrogance.

Not Barnsley? let's try QPR then! They must have some terrific players to have beaten us!

Maybe Sunderland can take our crown and afterwards will be known as doing an "Howay down the leagues"

Only two teams have gone from top tier to the third in consecutive seasons. Us and Swindon, we have managed to achieve it twice though!

Swansea did it in the 80s as well.
