Been talking to an old mate of mine who is a Derby Season Ticket holder and apparently their Chairman stated at the start of the season, that if promoted, season tickets in the Premier League
would be free next season,
so long as you had your Season Ticket at the start of this season.

The income from world wide TV rights make gate receipts small change.

Quite weirdly I'd posted how I'd like Wolves to do a grand gesture to our early bird fans, and I hadn't heard about this.

That might be the case but to be continually successful at the highest level you also need to be dependent on gate receipts. You only need to look at the top 6 in the prem and all of them have ground capacities in excess of 40k, with Chelsea the smallest of the lot looking to expand.

Gate receipts is a huge money spinner for the successful clubs.

I thought you were referring to their (so far) failed bid for James Maclean.

Probably to make up for them trying to sign James McClean.

What’s that about £7m at best for us from ST sales so it’s very good to see a club doing something like this.

Instant good publicity across all media & gives the club a good image.

apparently with TV and other income, fans could be let in for free without it causing much financial trouble if any.
