I am a serious dog lover, but I find Crufts is very distant from the experience of normal people and normal dogs. What is the betting that the winner is some weird looking creature - some shaven little pampered pooch with a grotesque name. If I had my way a Labrador would win every year, a proper dog, loved and owned by huge numbers of the public.
However, if you do watch, can I make a plea for you to vote for Milli and her assistance dog Emma in the Friends for Life category.

An organisation thoroughly discredited and still haven't learnt their lesson after watching a doc the other week about the evolution of the dog and domesticity, they still believe in butchering dogs by breeding.

Please don't have anything to do with this mob, boycott their sponsors and don't watch the show if it's even on TV now.

I buy my mutts from a local rescue place. Always have, and have had some real stars over the years.
Yep ours is a rescue dog. I wouldn’t think of getting a dog from anywhere else either. I find with dogs the love you give them they pay you back ten times as much.

Did anyone see the clip of the dog that kept lying down when it was supposed to be showing around the ring? Too funny.
And Ollie, the little jrt doing agility in his own unique way.
No time or respect for the show world though - harm to dogs, people chasing their favourite judges around the country, and an awful lot of bitchiness.
I’ve loved all the dogs I’ve had, and it breaks my heart that my current old boy may have to be my last. Have never needed the approval of a judge for any of them though. My love for them, and theirs for me, was all that mattered. They have all been perfect in their own way.

We’ve rescued a cat. Well she decided she was living here, and it’s brilliant.

Agree with all the fully justified criticism of Crufts and dog shows in general.

I smile at the recent change in professional dog breeders snobbery because they can give them pompous names like " ****er-poo " and " Labra - doodle " and make hundreds they are all for it. About 10 years ago I believe they would have been called " Mongrels " !

Don't mention cats to @HowfenWolf his cat's destroying his house.:D

Unfortunately the wife has bought a somali climbing cat - mental. It sleeps abaout 3 hrs a day - on the go constantly - Climbs up walls, curtains - then jumps on you whilst you are watching the tv or sat at the computer. Goes for walks using a lead like a dog. Loves speaker cables, & all my computer equipment (My den now has a lock!)

I thought it had moved to Coventry this year.

I was out drinking in Coventry City Centre last night and there were plenty of dogs walking around.

My wife and I socialise puppies for a charity called Dogs for Good. The most popular breed used is a Labrador/Retreiver cross as they have the best qualities of both breeds. They live with us and we introduce them to social situations such as shops and cafes, get them to travel in a lift, on trains. They then go for specialist training before being matched to a client.

I think that UK used to be rife with snobbery, and I thought it was changing. This Brexit stuff changes my mind somewhat, how can anybody vote for someone called Jacob Rees-Mogg:(.
Back to Crufts, epitomizes snobbery.

I’m collecting Lurchers again. I had to go and find one lazy sod at walk time the other day.

Hiding in one of the bedrooms because it was raining. As she now knows the layout of my fields, she was back home 15 minutes before I was as well.

Love Lurchers

We visit Birmingham Dogs Home every Christmas to take donations of treats, blankets, toys etc. There were a couple of Lurchers in there - absolutely melted our hearts. Sadly both were deemed unsuitable to go to homes with other dogs and we have a Boston Terrier pup.

My old Lurcher used to chase the ball twice (max) and then hide the ball and go sniffing

Main hobbies were snoring and farting

If anyone is interested, if you google "Ann and her amazing assistance dog Twickers" you will see the first dog that we socialised. He and Ann are the poster boy and girl for the charity. Best thing that I have ever done in my life (apart from marriage and bringing up 2 sons, just in case the wife reads this)
