First day of the season, we lost 3-1.
As a young Manc, I remember this match for a very special reason... At five minutes to kick off, we sung “Bring on the Champions”.

I think we can sing it again.

“Bring on the champions”
Yeah i remember going to this first game of the season and wor it a stupid kick off time something like 11am

Went off to Man Utd QPR afterwards when you could just walk up and pay cash at the turnstiles

I was there at Bury too that day Paul, and remember that chant.
Think I wait a bit longer to sing Bring On The Champions.. just to be on the safe side..;)

We sang bring out the champions at every game. Old bill made it an early kick off after the disruptions at Scarborough the season before.

Went onto Blackpool afterwards, a transit van load of us. Parked up went into the pub for a quick one before we secured digs. Never got round to doing that, ended up joining a 24 hour snooker club so we could take turns sleeping under the tables!

Two of the greatest seasons of my life back to back.

Dad, bro, and me went to that one. Didn’t enjoy that at all. The next home match we were losing- but went on to win 2-1- can’t remember who it was against, but starting to panic thinking had we enough quality when we were losing!
