I’m sure there are many gems over the years about Wolves winning and losing where words have been used in creative ways.

Mine was a league match v Watford which was unusual because Mutch scored two and Bull only one.

The CEEFAX headline was:

‘Two Mutch Bull for sad Watford’

So what’s your favourite headline about Wolves?

I always remember "Rotherham bother 'em" after losing (or maybe drawing) against Rotherham in our league one campaign.... that's pretty good.

I think it was after the playoff semi-final against Reading that the headline was “a Rae of Light..” not a great headline.. but I remember feeling great when I read it.

I well remember the headline describing the newly formed strike partnership of Andy Gray and John Richards just after we had beaten Arsenal 2-3 at Highbury.
'Nitro and Glycerin - And they go together with a bang'

'Division One Rubbish In Tatty Orange Shirts', when we started our promotion season poorly under DJ and had Doritos as our sponsor. Also 'Champions of the World' in our 50's heyday.

“Wolves rocked by Stancliffe howler” -early 90s following a 5-0 home defeat by Barnsley

You needed to see it to believe it.

It quiets a headline but best banner at the League Cup Final……

McGovern wouldn’t you rather be Emlyn

(Footnote, for younger viewers this references a certain beer commercial, other beers are also available)

I was there. Probably the worst l’ve seen Wolves play.

The following week was even worse. Bill hattrick put us 3-0 up at HT against Oxford and then they drew 3-3.

Set the tone for a decade of underperformance
