Still swooning about the gobsmacking football we've seen this season and I was thinking about putting a long term bet on Rúben Neves to win the Ballon d'Or. How would I go about doing this, pop into the local bookies?

Also forgive my ropey history knowledge but I was very happy to read that Billy Wright was the runner up in 1957.

Sky bet do request a bet so you could try that. You can do it through the app on phone or tablet.

If you are clever enough, you can actually place a bet using your mind only. It can be quite difficult I've heard, but it can be done. I tried it myself, but I had a message back that 'Pornhub Jaguar E-Type Pork Scratchings' isn't a valid bet for anything currently- so I'll not try it again for a few days at least. I'm going to close my SkyBet account tomorrow.

As someone said above, request-a-bet or similar would be the way.

Would imagine you’d get ****e odds for having it long-term though, enough to make it not worth it anyway.

Not sure this is a wise bet, midfielders of his type don’t win those sorts of awards

Usually won by attacking players.

Maybe win the CL might be better, although you’d not get anywhere near as good odds.

Easiest way is to just contact each bookmaker via email mate and then they will come back with a price within a day or two. Quite simple to find out, then you either place the bet by opening an account and phoning or they give you a reference and you can go into a betting shop and place it. Ususally set a small nominal time limit for you to place the bet. The key is to shop about, just go onto each website and look around the contact us section. You might want to place a 'by the year 20??' element to it to try and increase the odds.

I'd go bet given the choice. No, balloon. No bet, I'd go bet.

This really is the silly season isn't it!!

I just wish we could go back to the days of 3 months of discussion as we battle it out (and lose) with the likes of Wigan for that nobhead with the gangster teardrop tattoo, Andy Delort. Those were the days, realism every second, it was like being stuck in a washing machine drum at the back of a disused warehouse, no dreams to be had of the ballon d'or there that's for sure.
