They’ve spent decades as the self appointed “best fans in the midlands”. Time to hand back that mythical trophy
The amount of times down the years I've heard about our thicko fans and how we are all a big bunch of thugs who boo everything etc etc whilst they behaved like angels supporting their team through thick or thin really grated me.

Some seasons ago I sat with the Millwall fans for a midweek Wolves match. I left unscathed but they were incredible. Immediately in front of me was a tv cameraman operating the pitch side camera. He was picked on for the whole match by the Millwall fans much of it being accusations around being a paedophile or gay, these fans were middle aged who were only feet away from him. I also sat with West Ham fans in their new home and they were almost as bad, Millwall Lite.
The old Millwall ground was the worst away day of my life, mind you, that was at the height of Big Boots and Bracers skinheads, 1967. 2nd worst was West Ham at Upton Park about the same time, and same problem. One lad ended up with a broken shin from being kicked by steel-tipped toecaps.

Yesterday I was sitting with the Wolves fans. To my left was the main [dug out] stand just 30 yards away. The area was described as the Family Enclosure according to the WBA signs. In the first half a glass beer bottle was thrown from the Enclosure and landed at my feet between myself and some stewards who faced me and had their backs to the pitch. I shouted to the steward [ no. 850] who must have been aware as the bottle was in front of him. He responded with a shrug of his shoulders! I then caught the attention of a PC who was really angry about the incident and told me that CCTV would be able to track the bottle and identify the idiot who threw it.

Who ****ing cares. Move on!!

Game is over, we won, won't have to think about them again for several years.
Which is fair enough if it weren't for the fact that we're already getting dragged through the mud and might have sanctions incoming related to this. What if by some unhappy miracle they get promoted and we're told no away fans there next season because we can't behave?

I’ve got a load of Albion mates with friendships of well over 30 years with most of them and it’s the only thing they “rattle” me with. They paint themselves whiter than white when they absolutely aren’t. Both have their own minority of brainless idiots! I’m as passionate as the next bloke when it comes to my club, but the day I thought to show this was to cave an opposition fans head in is the day I’d pack it in.

I have stood in the Leeds home end in the late 1980's after a friend of a friend's mate got us two tickets.

I was scared ****less at the game (we lost 1-0), but me and my mate never said a word all game - in those situations you just shut up and watch the game. At least you can say you were there!

But the scariest thing was the Leeds bloke who got us the tickets - talk about sketchy was an understatement! I have never seen let alone been near any real hardened criminals, but this guy was an absolute gangster, and I am not joking. He took us in a van to the ground, I was worried about my car at the pub we met him at, he said not to worry as we were 'with him' and no one would do anything to my car.

He took us to the Leeds ground in his van, and he showed us his 'tools' under his seat - lets put it like this, I genuinely thought we were going to be found dead with lots of holes!

So seriously out of our depth was an understatement - scared ****less all day.

The things we do as 'kids', it bloody scares you to death thinking about it now.

We did throw a smoke bomb into their stand tbf. But still, they have come out of this far far worse

Otherwise known as the Independent of Truth. They're no different to any of the others.
This is what they wrote

When you start to piece together exactly what happened at The Hawthorns on Sunday, in the FA Cup tie between West Brom and Wolves, it makes a terrifying picture.

You may have seen the image of a bald man with blood streaming from a wound on top of his head, his face washed red. Fans appeared to chant “Let him die” as he was escorted away by police.
A ball boy required treatment after being hit by a missile. Children were rushed away from the violence, spilling onto the pitch to find safety. Disabled fans at the bottom of the West Stand were caught in the melee. Some involved were carried away on stretchers. Six people were arrested, as well as a 16-year-old before the match on suspicion of carrying a weapon. West Midlands Police have pledged to arrest many more.

The area was close to the West Brom players’ families, and some of them ran straight into the violence. Defender Kyle Bartley carried out his daughter and was later substituted so that he could stay with his children rather than finish the game. There were unconfirmed reports of players’ family members being spat at. To be caught near the violence must have been petrifying.

The Football Association is investigating, as are the police, to identify suspects involved and understand how something like this could have happened. It is thought the violence was sparked when a group of Wolves fans entered an area reserved for West Brom supporters and began celebrating their late goal. The FA Cup tie was suspended and eventually restarted, with Wolves winning 2-0.

So yes there was a bald man with blood all over him. The Wolves fans did sing 'let him die'. They've missed out that he was wounded by a police baton having tried to punch several officers.

Yes a ball boy received treatment having been hit by a missile. This was thrown by an Albion fan at a Wolves player.

One guy (as far as I could see) was stretchered away and kids were taken out. This was because a large group from ten Brummie Rd were throwing missiles into the family section trying to get to one Wolves fan who the stewards were removing.

Corberan said Kyle Bartley (who should already have been sent off) was taken off to rule out the risk of him being sent off. The 'unconfirmed' reports of players' family members being spat at are very likely complete rubbish. There was a suggestion it had been confirmed by one of them, but that's all gone quiet.

A few Wolves fans were in Albion sections none entered them during the game.

So like pretty much everything I've seen, heard and read since leaving the game, it's full of inaccuracies and half truths.

I mean reading that makes it sound like it was all Wolves to blame. I know people their end are now also saying that Wolves fans got given complimentary tickets in the home end by people at Wolves, which sounds to me a bit far fetched? Its like the entire thing that actually happened being rewritten in real time tbqh?

I thought they were pretty reasonable to be fair. They mentioned a Wolves fan in the A****n end, but didn't criticise the club or Wolves fans in general. They then went on to debate how to try and stop away fans getting tickets in home ends.

Whilst White can be a muppet, how is that being a plonker on this occasion?
he does just argue whatever point fits the narrative. Last week he was going mad about old firm not having enough tickets for away fans and that it was a disgrace. Now hes saying wolves were given too many tickets and it was a disgrace.
At least M O'Neill had courage of his convictions to say we were arguing the other way last week so there just needs to be correct management of the situation.
I agree with your point though, Simon and MON were very balanced in their view and weren't sensationalising or pointing fingers.

Deep irony that the piece starts "when you piece together exactly what happened", and then do nothing of the sort. I'd forgotten how the bad old days of violence at games was matched by the bad old days of the media enjoying making things up about football fans.

I didn't realise they had blues at home Saturday! Wouldn't be surprised if that had to be played behind closed doors.

Just seen a facebook comment from a baggie fan accusing Cunha of selling a ticket to the Wolves fan that kicked it all off in the Halfords Lane corner. Im sure he needs the money.

Only just realised that the lad in the white top who was seen on the ITV pictures being gently escorted out of the ground by several Albion fans was actually in the east stand. He'd posted a video of himself singing "**** off West Brom" to the liquidator at the start so probably did well to see as much of the game as he did.

I was offered tickets in the home end by two mates (selling them at face value) but I’d already got one in our end. There’s no way I’d have taken it up though. I was offered a corporate ticket via work with a free bar, even that wouldn’t have tempted me either.
Same and totally they can get stuffed poxy club

People all missing the one reason it all kicked off.
Our 2nd goal , all the times we've had to sit and listen to them crowing and the minute they lose they behave like that. Absolute nomarks, they know the are irrelevant, they have been left behind by Villa and Wolves, they know they are about to implode and with a bit of luck they can finally disappear down the plughole, absolute scum.

Coz rugby doesn’t take over your life.
Football wasn't properly segregated until the 60s. I admit I quite like the segregation for atmosphere purposes but it probably has contributed to football violence as kuch as has been a reaction to it.

Ive spoke to a few who were there and they say the opposite
The police were too passive until a steward was getting punched trying to remove the Wolves fan from the scene then they went in and got attacked themselves, obviously they reacted then and rightly so
The police get a lot of stick for heavy handedness but this time they seem to be too passive until it got out of hand and thats down to WBA fans
Yeah the video supports your version of events. The police were being very passive but the 50 or so who left their seats kept pushing forward.

would this have happened if the game was played at Molineux ..... answer no ****ing way .

Would it have happened if there had been no away fans in the home end? Yes, I think it would. The mobile phone videos by their fans all show how angry, wound up and cloise to boiling point their lot were, especially once that first goal went in. They'd have ran on the pitch when the second goal went in regardless, as there were clearly loads of them actively looking for someone to have a go at. It looked beyond normal football rivalry intensity. That long haired tramp looking guy...drunk women staggering on the pitch, not seen anything like that anywhere else!

At Molineux it would have been intense of course, but I can't see us invading the pitch because we were losing to them. We've been that position enough times this past 30 years or so and it never happened.

Sorry, but the 'wolves fans in the home end' line is what's sticking. That piece of commentary linked above was how people first heard about it. First thing I was greeted with at work this morning.

I don't see the narrative changing; they've got their line.

Let me back this up. Just spoke to wife, not going into to much detail, she works with a Wolves Steward (they are quite high up). She said in the
meeting before game with the Albion stewards and safety people, they were unprofessional and not bothered with safety concerns and questions raised, in fact dismissive and found it slightly amusing. Well there you go.

2 seconds in, right in the middle of the screen. An Albion fan shoves a police officer down the steps.
That was a vicious and deliberate act of violence. That poor copper went flying at great speed down a whole section of concrete steps.

Is anybody going to argue that he shouldn't have been there?

Is anybody going to argue that he was a Wolves fan?

Is anybody going to argue that he spat on Bartley's wife?

That act of cowardice and brutality only has something to do with Wolves in so much as Cunha putting us 2-0 up.

Perhaps the FA could be persuaded to charge our team with inciting violence by virtue of being too good - that's about the sum of the counter arguments for an equal punishment for the disorder.

I’ve met the head of fan safety at the poorthornes in a professional capacity, no bias from me because of rivalry but the bloke is a helmet of the highest order so I’m sure it filters down. You’d have thought he was head of security for Mi5 not some two bit championship football club
