Sometimes I go by train if I don't fancy driving. I've never encountered any trouble on trains, ever.

sorry, what??

Just don't think we have a great deal that travel away by train, not including the London Wolves or non-midlands wolves who are unlikely to cause any trouble. Small Heath have a lot more who go by train IMO.

I travel up from Wales by train and I never cause any trouble! I seriously resent this slur on my good name. My solicitors have been advised!

I don't think there is much trouble with organised supporters clubs trips. They are planned to avoid other clubs being on the same train etc. It's the non organised groups where trouble happens

The reality is there is very little truoble at football or on trains to do with football but we police by statistics in this country and so tables like this are produced to justify the Police's policys. Absolute nothing story.

This! 25 people out of what (say average couple of hundred each game) 200 x 23 (games).

Its nothing, if someone commissisioned some sort of data showing how many arrests per person going to a gig, people going on a night out, rugby fans even etc it would be similar.

Nothing to see here

Notice the language used... 'incidents'

Exactly the scaremongers on here (again) will have you believe there was 25 all out riots when in fact its more likely to be mostly made of of petty things like drunk and disorderly, travelling without tickets etc.

There was a bit of trouble on the late train back from MK last year. That could easily have accounted for many of the 25 mentioned in the post above!

Wouldn't call it trouble, more to do with Gestapo like policing.

I guess you were on a different train/carriage to me! There were no police as a bunch of lads were running amok through the carriage launching bottles, etc. Been a fair few years since I've seen that kind of stuff going on.

Not shocked Albion are not on there. They only go via Baggies Travel.

Must've been, don't recall any bottles getting thrown, everyone just having a sing song then BTP just wade in and start throwing their weight around for no apparent reason.

Yeah, it started after a few got on at Cov (I think, was hammered!) and kicked off with our fans. Was all fine until then.

Don't forget this was over 2 seasons and I think your estimate of 200, a 10th of our average away support, is an extremely conservative estimate.

Many a true word said in jest Maws.

I done a course many many years ago with a BTP officer.

Don't know if it still applies now but they had a power where you could be removed from a train or property I believe belonging to the railway if you had what they described as a communicable illness. Come busy match days in London it was used often to remove what they viewed as problem passengers. Only had to sniff, cough or sneeze etc and that was good enough to get them moved.

Do you think we get 200 going by train? When I go away (probably 6 games a season) I usually either stay over in the city or end up getting in early and leaving late, more drinking time or helps getting the cheaper advance fares.

For me its the only way to go away, unless a minibus or its in the far corners of England and its much cheaper sharing a car.

Just thought any article where wolves are mentioned is always interesting to post on here. But yes Transport Police have a real zero tolerance approach similar to WMP approach to away fans at the molineux.

Very hard to estimate but based on our average following being around 2000 I'd say yeah we would easily get 10% on average going by train (obviously certain journeys its more and others less). It could well be closer to 15%.

I only go to a few away games each season, but I always travel by train. Every time Our group, numbering 6 maximum, has had a personal escort back from the BTP. By no stretch could we be considered a threat, so if we get this much attention God knows what some do. Had an unscheduled stop at Stafford earlier this season due to the train breaking down. Whilst we waited for next one me and my mate walked off the station to have a fag and we were promptly followed there and back by the bored BTP.

My point being some of the statistics could be due to over zealous policing?

Bolton away this year is a perfect example of BTP and the police not having a clue what they are doing!

That's a shameful article

Whoever has written thinks it's fun to weave in names like Service Crew, Headhunters

Surprise she hasn't done an expose on Zulus or Subway Army, yet it's complete guesswork that these fans are anything to do with those groups

Without knowing what the 'incidents' are or how many people were travelling by train its a pretty useless list. Opening a can of larger on a dry train for example could be classed as an incident.

One of the phases that strikes fear into me on an away day 'sorry mate this is a dry train/coach'
