It's the midway point of the season, and the final round of the Apricot Cup. Who is going to be straddling an angel on top of a pointy tree for Christmas?

41 non-spoons so far this week. We have 13 Wolves wins (I actually expected more), 9 West Ham wins and 19 draws, 17 of which are 1-1. Only Mac Tire gives Man Utd a chance against Liverpool, and even that's just a draw - could we see a Ten Hag shock at Anfield, or just another shocker? Man City get the clean sweep against Santa Hodgson's Palace, and we have 5 2-2 draws between Arsenal and Brighton alongside 36 Arsenal wins. Only Wolvessince63 believes Wilder's Sheffield Utd can continue their winning streak against pantomime Chelsea, and only Wolvessince63 also reckons Brentford will spring a surprise against Champions-of-the-Universe-elect Aston Villa. He's a one, that Wolvessince63. Newcastle v Fulham is the intriguing one, with 8 going for the Fulham win, 18 for the Tinsel Toon, and 15 for the draw. Only SmokeyGB and Bigcheese have gone for Frankfurt, fresh from thrashing Bayern 5-1, to follow that up with a victory against Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen, and only SuziQ, Iamthenewno2 and Melbourne Wolf fancy Luton against Bournemouth.

60 asterisks - just shy of 50% overall - have been placed on Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool. I hope everyone has at least one 10-pointer in their stocking to kickstart their Christmas.

My Christmas wish was for everyone to collect at least one correct score, and in a brilliant week, that almost came true - just a handful of players ended up on the naughty list. However, the player most deserving of a pony, a Barbie doll and a tangerine is SmokeyGB, who hit 34 points to claim his third ever weekly award - and, amazingly with the season reaching the halfway stage, we still have no one who has won more than once this year. Who says we can't all play nicely with one another and share the fun?

Smokey rattled in three correct scores, including a double on Chelsea's 2-0 win, and took points from 9 of 14 completed fixtures. That's five correct in the last two rounds, and two top 5 weeks in a row - Wolves may hate December, but it's a strong hunting ground for the Smokey one, whose wins last year also came at this sparkly time of year (including the week before Christmas - weird, innit?). Don Corleone, having a superb season, was pipped by a single point into 2nd, with two 10-pointers as part of three correct scores for 33 points. Don has now hit 9 asterisk bullseyes this year, the best haul of any player. Purplepault69 also slammed in a double asterisk for 20 of his overall 28 points and 3rd place - he's unstoppable right now - whilst Leominster Wolf got 3 correct and Evthewolf 2, one doubled, on the way to 27 points. SuperGran was the other player to get 3 correct this week, one doubled, to contribute 20 of her overall 24 points.

Special mentions of the week go to Frank Lincoln for Newcastle's 3-0, and Jrpb-3 for a 0-0 between Sociedad and Betis.
