Here we go folks! The ultimate date of destiny has arrived.

Our Rugby Union Heroes of 2014 and very nearly 2017 and 2022 as well (darn you New Zealand both times!) Cricketers of 2017 and nearly 2022 (darn you Australia) and Hockey Olympic and Commonwealth Champions of 2016 and 2022 (in Brum of course), could be joined by Weigman and her Lionesses in conquering the global game.

Here’s to one of the most glorious days of our lives!

Spain announced there team at 08:25 and the big element: Salma Paralluelo, the teenager who came off the bench to score in the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, starts.

It means Ballon d'Or holder Alexia Putellas is left on the bench.

You better watch out for Paralluelo.
We couldn´t deal with her at all in our semifinal.
I would go even further and say that she was the icing on the cake that enabled Spain to beat us.
She looks like the complete package.
Apparently she won the Youth Olympics in 400 meters back in 2019 so the girl can run for sure.
Good technique as well and seems to have that godgiven instinct in fron of goal.
Good in the air as well and she is still so young she is not overthinking on the pitch.
She will be a real threath for the England defence, make no bones about it.

This said, rest of the spanish team ain´t halfbad either.
This though..goes for England as well.
You won the EC last year and now you have reached the WC final match.
Obviously,it´s no fluke and the impression that I have got is that England has managed to rise the bar when quality of opposition has called for it.

Prediction before the big match.
I´ll be rooting for England but I must confess I am deeply impressed with Paralluelo.
England need to go up another notch if you are to beat Spain.
I am not sure you can do that.In a couple of hours time we will know for sure.

Spain 2 England 1.

Very balanced. Your lot looked decent in the third place game, bit of a non-event though it be.

Come on ladies. Really hope they can do it, however after yesterday still struggling to feel much enthusiasm for football this weekend.

Would be nice to have a half decent end to a completely miserable footballing week.

Wish we had an anthem about our nation rather than our monarch.

Anyway good luck England! :D

Tough game for the Lionesses Spain are so good technically
If we can get at them they are fragile in defence
The first goal is crucial
We dont do defeat though and i feel we will bring it home one way or another
Come on ladies

So close there. England hit the bar.

Then a few minutes later, our goalie saves a certain goal.

Refreshing to watch football where players stay on their feet, don’t feign injury, less theatrics than the men’s game.
Nothing's been made of it, but I thought England had a good case for a pen when Russo burst into the box ten mins or so ago. She tried to stay on her feet after a clumsy attempt at a tackle, then stumbled a couple of strides later.

Brill game so far, evenly matched and plenty of quality end to end, great watching for a neutral! Meanwhile I’m sat here with a pillow to hide behind if needed

This is, unlike most finals, actually a decent game. Two goods teams with different strengths.

Lucy Bronze lost the ball and then just walked back.

Really good play from Spain to exploit the space though and an excellent finish.

First game I've watched. We look bad. Don't understand the tactics. It's Steve Bruce level stuff

Big gap between forwards and midfield, making it too comfortable for the Spanish.

Been feeling for a while that the game's caught up with Bronze: her pace and strength aren't such unique attributes anymore and she's so positionally ill-disciplined. The three at the back mitigates that to an extent, but evidently not enough.
