Can you tell me why Pedro Martin's would be noooooooo?

He's successful and from what I read plays a style that actually suits the players we have. Unless the articles I just read are lying!

Hull City were close to appointing him. Speaks volumes.

What a ridiculous stupid comment.
You prefer to watch the wolves nil ( as we are now known ) goaless football to the fluent fast free flowing high scoring stuff that he got average Leeds players playing then ...laughable
I didn't say that. I just think it's a bit of a stretch saying he's one of the greatest coaches ever when he won the Argentine league... once... thirty years ago.

Playing Devils advocate, we were close to signing JL in the Chump. It didn't stop Spain or Real Madrid employing him.
Because he'd been sold "The Project". Don't think you can compare really.

All jobs are "sold" to new employees. Pedro Martins didn't bite with Hull, so how is it reflecting badly on him? He's out of work and listened to a job offer. JL according to his own statement was willing to join a Chump team. Doesn't matter what he was told to agree that, going by the previous comment Spain should not have employed him.

Oh look, Lage's biggest fan has a new bandwagon. Lage and Bielsa do have one thing in common - they both overwork players and have shedloads of injuries. DLS only got promoted, and didn't blow up as they did the season before, because CV gave the players a much needed break.

I think our squad is severely lacking in terms of the fight required to stay up. Individual quality yes, but seeing nothing that suggests there is much of a team ethic and I don’t see any real fighters out there (other than Neves).
Add Costa to the fighters

Martins is not a bad manager and his achievements in Portugal weren't bad when you look closer at them.

However if Lopetegui doesn't come is he really the best we can get?

Anyway let's hope Lopetegui gets it...

I'm wondering this too. I have memories of his olympiacos being the better side in both of our europa games against them. They had 10 men for 60 or so minutes in Greece and arguably should have won. They definitely should have won at Molineux.

He qualified for europa league in Portugal with Maritimo, Vitoria Guimares and Rio Ave before moving to olympiacos and winning the league in every season. To me that sounds a pretty decent record

To quote from the report…

“According to the relevant reports, there is already an agreement with Julen Lopetegui. The Spanish coach was sacked by Sevilla after the Andalusians' poor start to La Liga and England is expected to be the next stop in his coaching career. These reports note that family matters are keeping Lopetegui in Spain and that is why his recruitment will be announced on Friday.”

Are we all assuming Lopetegui will play 433?
Does/has he ever played any other way?

If you were Lopetegui what would you be demanding as a minimum to get us out of this mess ?

Well he signed a new deal to 2024 in 2021 with them.

Ie sevilla,

He will want assurances of relegation bonus, etc.

I reckon hes going to want 80 to 100k a week,

Lage was suppose to be on 50k a week

Potentially January investment into a striker.

If he is able to turn it around new contract for neves. Then a splash in summer for european target in addition to whats already been spent

We can all criticise Lage, but remember he did clearly state that he wanted two players for each position. We have never had that in our recent PL years and that is coming back to bite us. Hard.
You may have a point but he had 2 centre halves in toti and mosquera at his disposal but decided to play our best midfielder there.the man was inept

  • Full choice over his coaching staff
  • Significant bonus for avoiding relegation
  • Significant bonus for achieving a Top 10 finish
  • Significant influence over incoming & outgoing transfers during tenure
    • Or significant say in the choice of a new Director of Football
  • Significant transfer funding to be available for Jan (£100m)
  • Review of the Club's medical & conditioning Team
If No...... then "Jog On Jeff"

Definitely appreciate the first 4 on this, i think the 100m will need to be summer.

Id want to ensure Neves and others future.

There’s zero chance of £100 million in January, that’s an astronomical amount for any club in the winter window.

Does Shi have no self-respect? Lopetegui has been fobbing him off since 2016.
Bit of a harsh comment. If JL's elderly father is in poor health, this potentially could be the last chance he gets to see him in person before relocating a thousand miles away. I've been as critical of Jeff as anyone, but this is nothing if not respectful on his part.
