Also a statement from the Grasshopper Club Board to all Grasshoppers...

It's a bit of a long read, the 'important' bit is this though...

As the central board, we would have expected a prompt statement from GFAG and its president. Since this has not yet been done, we are sending this letter to our members.
Hi Amsel. Could you summarize what the issue is at grasshoppers? Is there internal conflict amongst the board. What does ag stand for?

Gc win, that got me a tidy sum!
When Fc Zürich were in the 2nd Division in 2017 they won most of their games, and the betting companies in England hadn't realised this.
On accumulators putting 'win' by a 'no-name' in the Swiss 2nd Division was a guaranteed result.

Much cash was made!

The football is awful to watch, really.
What made it worse was that I watched GC as an hors d'oeuvre to Barca - PSG, hoping to wet my appetite for all things football, but it was like eating a dog-shiit sandwich as a starter for Sunday Roast!
There was definitely still a bit of an after-taste, enjoying the main meal.
Amsel l love your informative posts but must question how you know what a dog pooh sandwich tastes like...

Grasshoppers getting closer to the promised land.

I'm sure I'm inadvertently making a biblical reference here.

Still, go hoppers, go!

Sounds like Toti Gomes has been the standout loanee so far, although Bonatini has been in the goals recently. Article on Gomes here:

Means only a 3 man board, of Jeff Shi, John Gough and John Bowater - which is surely too small for a club like us!

Good to see Fosun getting there teeth, into another club who we could hopefully work with.
At least we still have fan representation on the board!

Grasshoppers lost 2-1 at home to Lausanne tonight, they were 1-0 up at the 83rd minute.

Seem to be doing a good job of messing up promotion, 3 points clear with 3 to play. Could have pretty much done it tonight with a win.

The collapse continues.

Lost 2-1 tonight, Gomes sent off as well. Now three points clear with 2nd place having a game in hand. Three successive defeats.

Next two games are against 2 from the bottom 3
Both of which have already beaten Grasshoppers this season (one of them twice). FWIW I think they’ll be fine but everyone seems capable of beating anyone else in this league it seems

Grasshoppers have sacked their manager Carlos Pereira with two games to play "reacting to the downward trend in the last few games"

Brave move but the last few results have been poor and in at least one of those games Grasshoppers were winning but the manager has changed things around and the result goes against them

Interesting interview with the new manager of GZ. Talks about Wolves, Fosun and Mendes.

Spiers visited Grasshoppers for his latest article.

"The links between the club are obvious but up until now it’s been termed unofficial. The Athletic can reveal, though, that an official partnership was agreed some months ago between Wolves and Grasshoppers, which sets out that they will share expertise."

Toti Gomes is continuing to impress, as is former Wolves player Christian Herc.

The Grasshopper Club Zurich announces changes in the management today. After internal discussions, the club mutually agreed to the immediate termination of the employment relationship with Managing Director Jimmy Berisha and Technical Director Seyi Olofinjana.

In the past few weeks, intensive talks have been held about the future of the club. In these open and fair discussions, the parties came to the joint decision to go their separate ways in the future.

«As a club with a great legacy and ambitious visions, we must aim to continuously advance this and to challenge ourselves on a regular basis. After the open discussions and in view of the different views on the future orientation of the club, it was agreed that a change in the management team was unavoidable. In the best interests of the club's future, the Board of Directors has come to this decision together with the parties involved in order to be able to continue to pursue the ambitious goals in the years to come," said President Sky Sun.

«I would like to thank Jimmy and Seyi for their trust and the always constructive and professional cooperation. Both have made important contributions to the club and guided GC through an important chapter in its history. Jimmy has played a pivotal role in bringing this new project to fruition over the past two years and has been able to put GC back on track by being instrumental in their promotion to the Super League. Since day one, Seyi has always shown great commitment and dedicated himself to every challenge with passion. Through his work, he ensured, among other things, that we were able to tackle the past season with a competitive team. I wish both of them all the best for their personal and professional future and thank them very much for their commitment.»

The new sporting director will be appointed in the coming days. President Sky Sun will assume the role and responsibilities of Managing Director on an interim basis with the support of the members of the Management Board.

Not surprised by Seyi going (know nothing of the other guy)…. Seyi has come under lots of criticism in his role, partly to do with how he dealt with Kaly Sene (a loan player who was top scorer and with whom they agreed a fee for but not wages and since he’s performed so well, he’s now going to cost more money), lack of Swiss signings

Terrible timing from their perspective though… the season starts in a month

Grasshoppers fans annoyed that wolves are the centre of conversation. They are probably annoyed about losing toti. A bit of gratitude wouldn't go amiss as they get quality players through our association.

If we'd be treated as a feeder club, there is no way we'd be gracious.

We basically treat them as a little club we pat on the head, and they are still ****. I'd hate it if I was a Grasshopper fan
