Losing Raul was tough for the team.
But something else has been missing this season, We will know what fosuns intentions are when the knew manager is announced.
If Nuno goes to Spurs he will not get the time to instill his ideas, they will expect immediate success .
All the best Nuno ,you will always be one of our greatest managers.
But this club is bigger than any individual ..
Wolves Forever!!

Nuno to Spurs - how much of a game-changer would that be to his legacy ?

Nuno has been a terrific manager and sets a very high bar for the next person to fill his shoes. I assume with Nuno will go Rui Pedro Silva and the rest of his great team. The team under Lambert, Zenga and Jackett is such a distant memory. I can only hope the project survives and fresh faces invigorate the next stage of Wolves development and establishment as an elite side.

It is weird though how usually in a manager leaving statement they also confirm the exit of back room staff. Makes me wonder if we haven’t already got the new manager sorted, and the back room staff are currently deciding whether to leave or stick with the newbie. If it is indeed true Nuno has left because he wanted to and take a break from football, that wouldn’t necessarily mean the back room staff leave to right? They might want to be kept in a job here?

Normally when a club says the manager is leaving by mutual consent everyone knows it really means sacked, so do we think he was pushed?

Can't see him going spurs unless Mendes has been naughty and paved the way for us not getting compensation by lining us up a replacement immediately. Could this be why the backroom staff haven't been mentioned yet, if Nuno takes Spurs job we'll forego his compensation but the rest will cost?

I think it must be on good terms, otherwise he would not be around for tomorrow’s game.

I agree something has felt wrong all season above and beyond Covid and injuries etc. Fosun may be putting the brakes on and Nuno felt therefore that after an exhausting season it was time to move on. The sale of Jota for me was the turning point. Much bigger decision than people realised imv. The first sign of 'retreat' despite the outlays on Silva and Semedo which look bad business for now. Exacerbated of course by the Jiminez injury.

If Neves goes followed by Neto in January that will be the confirmation that we are stalling as a club.

A few things I find a little strange....

“We have all the plans ready for pre-season; the date that we start, where we’re going to go, who we’re going to face, there’s only one small detail missing, but everything is planned"

This was 3 days ago, it seems very strange that he would say such a thing.... however was that "one small detail" himself?

I wish he was able to have a full pre season and get the players he wants however I'm grateful that some fans will at least be able to give him a send off,

I'm unsure on what I think of Bruno Lage to me it seems like a zenga type appointment to me, I feel as though with the players we have and they are Nunos players we need someone with a bit of experience to come in.

Ah yes the obsession with numbers.
One person scores 15 a season, another scores 2 a season - is that an 'obsession with numbers' or pertinent to who is the more effective player ? Do you think players wearing the sports bra type things to measure everytime they run to everytime they fart are for a joke ? Stats matter!

Or do you pick your teams on reputation regardless of effectiveness ? Presumably you're begging for Lacazette to come in ?

A sad if not entirely unsurprising conclusion to a season that went off the rails with the transfer business last summer.

It's disappointing he isn't giving us one more season under "normal circumstances" and with a chance to see what the team could do after some corrective surgery in the summer.

Signing a new three-year contract and then departing a season later says something's gone awry behind the scenes along the way. I really hope he's not simply pitching up at Tottenham...

Nah just prefer someone who has the composure and technical ability on the ball in tight spaces without having a nose bleed.

A man of integrity and honour who is loved by the Wolves pack. If he wanted to leave I could accept his choice but if the Chinese masters have swung the axe its gutting. It takes away a huge feeling of what we wanted for our club and how we wanted to get there, but this is the football world and commercialism rules decisions in the need to extend profit margins and personal fortunes
Can only add my deep respect to a man I've been proud to say was Wolves manager. Good luck and success Nuno.
The chinese masters may have noted the 35 goals in 37 games ?

I have gone from devastation to anger now.

Wtf Wolves. Wtf Fosun. What kind of move is this. This is the best manager we have ever had (post Cullis) and ever likely to have for the foresable and what makes it worse is, he loved our club.

Do everything in your power to keep him.

21st May 2021. A date that will define the fortunes of this club. I cannot see a way forward from here.
I'm with you, terrible day. Was on a bit of a high first time in a pub since the Brighton game pre-covid with an ex-Mixer mate and then this news, gut wrenching.

What do you guys think the odds of all of Fosun's PR being bull**** are? With leaked documents such as

and the rumours of a manager anywhere but world-class (Lage) , I'm not feeling optimistic.

And do you know, I loved reading those quotes from him. Sense of unfinished business. No way was this his decision.

I am really, really ****ed off with our club. Really seriously ****ed off.

Well this was depressing news to log in to after work. I was sure with how Nuno seemed so open about the summer and next season that he wasn't going anywhere, which has just compounded my shock at the randomness of this announcement. Best manager in my lifetime by a flipping mile. Thank you for giving me the best memories I've had in football, I'll never forget what you did for Wolves.

Nuno to Spurs ? Surely not. When it was first rumoured, he told everyone that he had a contract with Wolves
and would be honouring it. Also after his comments about the European Super League he would not join one
of those teams - would he??

Don’t believe for a minute he’s going to Spurs, imagine it being his worst nightmare of a club with the Levy politics etc.
Think the more realistic reasoning is he wants to manage back home, his body language was off way before the Spurs links started.

I'll miss him, gutted when I saw the news. I didn't want him to go but if he its his choice I respect that. He deserves respect for all he has done for us.

So many questions arise from this.

One year into a three year contract, so something fairly fundamental must have caused Nuno to decide it is time to go.

He strikes me as the sort of man who honours a contract if he possibly can.

Mutual decision is the official line, and that may well be so, but what has happened behind the scenes to cause both Nuno and Fosun to agree a parting of the ways?

My guess, and it’s no more than that, is that Nuno is simply exhausted by the last two seasons, and the lack of time he has with his family, and needs a break.

Otherwise it may be that Fosun have changed their approach in a way that makes “the project” unattainable in Nuno’s opinion.

I’m guessing the former, but either way it’s going to be a huge close season.
Who will go; who will stay; who will come in?

Despite the bookies odds, I’m not sure I see Nuno moving to Spurs, but since Mendes clearly has a relationship there, who knows. I would have thought Nuno would be looking to return to Portugal after a tough year apart from this family.

Whatever the outcome, he’s been the best Wolves manager of my 50 something years, so I wish him well.

Nuno had to leave,
to build a football team
Without Chinese Owners or a wonder kid from Porto
He’ll never be back, we’re gonna be cack
We’re Wolverhampton, we’re on our way back (to League 1).

He built a legacy as good as I’ve seen in my lifetime as a Wolves fan. I genuinely dreamed that he’d be our Bill Shankly or our Alex Ferguson and oversee us dominating European football but it wasn’t to be.

Give it a few years but when we’re in the final of the tournament formerly known as the Champions League and playing against Nuno’s Grasshoppers Zurich and he allows us to have 80% of the possession and we win 1 nil we’ll know it was all part of his grandmaster plan.

A heartfelt thank you from a Wolves fan who knew little about the sheer joy of watching a team in gold and black cutting swathes through domestic leagues and Europe. Beating teams with mysterious foreign names like Beskitas, Espanyol, Cardiff and Olympiacos. What a joy.

Thank you Nuno and his crew for taking us on one hell of a ride and I wish you all the health and happiness. Go and spend some time with your family, you deserve it.

I am not a Wolves fan, but I have become a Wolves "lover" ("lycophilos") and supporter, largely because of Nuno and his style of management.

He is a manager who tries to achieve success in what I believe is the best way. Not by spending loads of money in buying "marquee" or "statement" signings, but by melding together players into a group characterized by a very strong team/pack spirit :
“I think it’s our identity now…is the way we operate as a club. We are like a small family that everybody feels comfortable to each other, knowing their roles, their responsibilities…and the standards are very high, very very high, so we’ll keep these standards so we can proceed…every statement , every employee from the club and responsibilities to help and make things right." (direct quote from Nuno)

Perhaps as far as on-the-field tactics go, he had taken the club as far as he could? Well, he had a pretty successful first three seasons!!! I stopped my regular readings of this forum a few weeks ago, because I could no longer stomach the moanings of some prominent posters, who didn't seem to accept that even the best managers have below par seasons. To have had three great seasons in a row was already a great achievement.

And now he's going. I suspect that this is not just about football. Nuno strikes me as a very wise person, not over-obsessed with football, who has many other facets to his life, including his family - separation from whom may have hit him much harder than some on this forum might imagine.

Has my love affair with Wolves come to an end? I will find it hard to turn away from my affection for your club. It will depend I suppose on what sort of person is appointed as Nuno's successor. If it is someone with the same integrity, honesty, and humility that Nuno has shown, and with the same dedication to managing a football club in what I believe is the best and most healthy way - most healthy not just for Wolves, but for football as a whole - then I am afraid this forum will still have to put up with me for some time yet.

Best wishes to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, to Wolves fans - and especially to Nuno and his family.
