It was to replace Doc. He was just our first permanent transfer in two summer windows that would slot immediately into the lineup after two summers of fans moaning about U23's.
Fair enough.

To go back to your previous point, Semedo is clearly a better footballer than Doherty, but the latter fit our system (as was) much much better

I don't disagree. I wished Semedo had panned out better, but he has had flashes. Maybe we'll have to rely on him next season and he'll do better.

My whole point being, Semedo is the only ready-experienced non-loan permanent XI starter signed since the promotion window. I can't imagine that was Nuno's decision and I can see him deciding it was time to leave if this summer was going to be more of the same.

One plays for a top European country and has over 100 apps for one of the best teams in the world. The other doesn’t.

Who suited the system better is debatable. Who is the better player is not really is it?
Who was the most effective ? Thats what it boils down to

And i thought the meltdowns on here each time Jota scored with Liverpool were bad, just wait until he starts stringing up a few good performances or even win something with Spurs/ Arsenal / whichever English team he's joining :tearsofjoy:

I expect that 80% of Wolves fans loved him.
Hope he manages a good club in European mainland now. Dont want him to manage in England, it would be like seeing another bloke sleeping with your wife.
With Mendes as his agent I'm pretty sure he will get a place in a good European team really soon.

Hmmmm.

I agree in principle, my Spidey senses just say that we have peaked and we are in for an uncomfortable summer and ensuing seasons.
You may well be right but in my opinion it will be because of the decisions we make from now, not the fact nuno is leaving. Fosun have given themselves the time for next season so why not press the button now on a full refresh. I just hope that doesnt mean selling our best assets. Only time will tell.

Absolutely gutted! What a hugely important, and to be honest, very worrying summer ahead. Managerial appointment and recruitment needs to be spot on, but the rumours about there being no money to spend and the chance that some of the best players could leave is massively worrying for the future.

If that’s true, we could be in all sorts of trouble next season

Nobody knows anything about Wolves... we simply don’t leak anything! This is all guess work... she’s been wrong about us in the past if I remember

Let’s be honest... we’ve been awful this year! Horrendous football each week. The only reason Nuno has stayed on is because he’s a great man and has done wonders for us! Hence why he’s going mutually... not being sacked! Fosun wish to play more attractive football and progress. I think we need changes and it’s all come at the right time!
However best of luck to Nuno! He’s been amazing and someone we can all look back on fondly! Time to be positive and in Fosun we trust! After all, they got us to this position already...

Was I a betting man, I would put good money on us buying a couple of oven ready players, making the loan moves permanent and selling Neves, Patricio, Moutinho and one more.

I suspect we are entering phase 2 of the project - let's try and stay up, develop players, move them on for a profit and hope.

I don't think I've ever experienced another period in our history where the club had been so joined up......from fans, through the players, through ownership and of course through the manager. Everything seemed so cohesive, professional and right. It's scary how quickly things can unravel.....
Hopefully there's a bigger picture here, but for now, I just feel numb.

Saddened and gutted by this but not surprised. I shared my thoughts in Jan/Feb that I thought he would be gone in the summer and was steering the ship over the line for Fosun, he just had that look of a man who's heart was no longer in it.
Thank you for some of the finest moments I've had supporting this club, it's been an incredible ride and I dearly wish it could have ended on a higher note for you, I wish you all the best. Thank you Nuno.

I do believe this has been a long time coming. We have to accept this is best for everyone. But it’s a gut wrenching day.
But it is what happens next that is important both to Nuno as a person and Wolves as a club.

Absolutely gutted by this news.

I've been a supporter since childhood in the early 70s and this is the first time I've ever felt really down after hearing of a manager leaving. I hope Fosun have a cunning plan but I have to say I'm worried about where we go from here.
How true (but I can remember Cullis getting the sack. My Dad was in a strop for weeks. That didn’t go well)

The most amazing thing about this is that my wife and daughter are just going about their business as if nothing had happened. As if the sands haven't shifted and as if the world is the same place. I mean, WTF?

Me and my son walking around in a daze and unable to hold a conversation about anything other than Nuno.

Club tell us nothing. Was he pushed or did he jump? We deserve to know that.

I am told there is no other club involved in this decision and Nuno just feels it has come to the end of a cycle.
He will now take some time to consider his future.

It’s why you probably have to change manager. And to be fair Fosun have done it quickly not waited until mid June . I do believe there will be little investment , but we have good value in the squad.

Just as I thought. That European quarter final was the watershed for Nuno . Let’s hope not for Wolves.

Gutted. Best manager for Wolves in my lifetime. Wish I’d been luckier in the ballot and be at Molineux for his farewell

But its not just Nuno"s gone but all of his coaching staff .. they will also be extremely difficult to replace .. My only worry if Bruno Lage is appointed having been out of management for some time he does not have the back up staff available to improve the club

I really hope you’re right.

My biggest concern was that this squad was going to need a big overhaul in the Summer anyway. If we don’t have the finances to deliver that, I really fear for us next season.

Hopefully she’s wrong and the new Manager will have significant funds made available.

What are the odds on Nuno to spurs and taking Jimenez to replace Kane

A man of integrity and honour who is loved by the Wolves pack. If he wanted to leave I could accept his choice but if the Chinese masters have swung the axe its gutting. It takes away a huge feeling of what we wanted for our club and how we wanted to get there, but this is the football world and commercialism rules decisions in the need to extend profit margins and personal fortunes
Can only add my deep respect to a man I've been proud to say was Wolves manager. Good luck and success Nuno.

So what happens now about Ait Nouri, Jose and Vitinha ? Does Jeff get to decide if they stay? How long do we have to make those decisions?

Surely any new manager will insist on keeping most of the players as a condition of taking the job rather then starting with nowt.

I know it doesnt mean anything in particular but Nuno is red hot favourite for the Spurs job on multiple betting sites. Is this why mutual consent, did Mendes turn his head when he knew Spurs were interested and why we have seen a dour Nuno recently?
This is all speculation granted and maybe a conversation for another day but will be interesting to see the next moves from here

The fact that he's left here by mutual consent means it's almost Impossible that he will take the Spurs job. Wolves wouldn't waste the prospect of 10+ mill compensation, and Levy wouldn't risk the legal battle

Same mate. Think its the natural pessimistic nature of being Wolves fans, but genuinely interested/worried to see where we go now.

I always expected the journey to end, just not so quickly.

Will be interesting, but I think the odds have shortened just because he's leaving Wolves. There's a few journalists with good reputations and strong links to Spurs saying that he's not being considered for the job at all. Time will tell I guess.
