Wolves' comparative performance to date (after 26 games):
9 points up on last season (40 pts vs 31 pts from the same fixtures last season)
Comparative results table:
Manchester City (88; CL qualification)
Liverpool (77; CL)
Chelsea (72; CL)
Arsenal (68; CL)
Tottenham (65; EL)
Manchester Utd (61; ECL, potentially EL)
Southampton
West Ham
Leicester
Wolves (10th on 54 pts)
Aston Villa
Everton
Brighton
Crystal Palace
Leeds
Newcastle
Brentford (33)
Burnley (33)
Watford
Norwich
Comments:
Due to the League Cup Final, three of the top 4 couldn't play their PL games so there is little change in the table at the top. Man Utd's draw at home to Watford dropped the points needed for 6th down to 61.
Southampton remain the most improved side in comparative terms (17 points better off), with Brentford being the only other team in double figures.
Wolves were unable to improve on last season's defeat at West Ham (0-4) and so remain 9 points better off than last season. We are therefore averaging an extra 0.333 points per fixture to date... a trend, which if you applied across the remaining fixtures, would mean Wolves would finish 7th.
