Paul Merson thinks Spurs should consider appointing Graham Potter as manager if Nuno Espirito Santo gets the sack.

Tottenham began the Premier League season brightly, topping the table after three games.

However, their form dropped after the international break, with three heavy league defeats in a row.

One of those was at north London rivals Arsenal, who put three past Spurs in the first half.

Son Heung-min struck back for Tottenham in the second half, but it proved a mere consolation.

Although Spurs ran out 5-1 winners over Mura in the Europa Conference League in midweek, this only came about after Nuno brought on the big guns.

Writing in his latest Daily Star column, Merson reckons Nuno has lost the dressing room.

“I think he’s got 90 minutes against Aston Villa to turn it around,” said the former Arsenal and England midfielder.

“Daniel Levy is no mug. He knows when managers are up against it with the players.”

And in terms of potential replacements, Merson reckons the Brighton boss would fit the bill.

“If they sack Nuno, I think Graham Potter would suit them,” he added.

“Spurs fans want entertaining football and that’s what you get from him at Brighton.”

Potter, who was linked with Spurs in the summer, has kept Brighton punching above their weight since joining in 2019.

In addition, he plays an exciting style of football, and this season, the Seagulls have enjoyed a bright start, going up to sixth in the table.
