Chelsea might consider themselves at rock bottom right now but the pit could get deeper in the next few weeks.

Frank Lampard’s second arrival as manager has been a complete disaster so far after six defeats in six and it has the Blues plunging new depths in the Premier League.

Chelsea sit 12th in the table with 39 points – nine points ahead of 18th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Every team below them still has four games left to play in the Premier League, meaning survival is possible for them all – and relegation for Lampard’s team.

Could Chelsea creep closer to the drop zone this weekend? A trip to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon against Bournemouth could turn out to be crucial now.

A loss there will see the Cherries, already level on points, catapult above them in the league – but it could get worse.

Wolves and Leeds face Aston Villa and Manchester City respectively, two sides in fine form.

It would be a surprise to see Wolves and Leeds both finish the day with three points each but Julen Lopetegui is desperate for a reaction after a 6-0 mauling at the hands of Brighton.

A Wolves win would see them go above Chelsea while Leeds would cut the gap down to six points.

On Sunday, one side play beneath Chelsea as West Ham host Manchester United, which is also a tough game for the strugglers but not impossible to see a shock result.

The Hammers could go two points behind their London rivals with a win while there are more matches on Bank Holiday Monday.

Leicester and Everton are on their travels to Fulham and Brighton respectively with both sides fighting for their lives against two teams whose seasons are starting to peter out.

The Foxes could go six points behind Chelsea with a win while Sean Dyche could go seven behind his predecessor at Stamford Bridge.

The final game of the long weekend will see Nottingham Forest host Southampton, two sides in the relegation zone.

With the Saints six points adrift of safety, they are the only side that cannot catch Chelsea up, so if Forest land all three points, they will also go six points behind the Blues like Leicester and Leeds could.

It means that Lampard must pull out a result from somewhere with one win more than enough to secure safety but with upcoming matches against City, Newcastle and United, he might need to hurry up.
