“Moelis & company, the bank charged by Fosun to oversee any investment.”

Its just taken from this report and the section on Grasshoppers.

And despite the positive noises, Fosun’s share price has fallen overall by 16 per cent since the start of 2023, reflecting the uncertainty about its operations.

Guangchang did not address what the move meant for Fosun’s sporting investments, but Grasshoppers, owned by his wife Jenny Wang and with close ties to Wolves, is on the market, with brokers actively seeking a buyer.

Moelis & Company, the global investment bank, has been given the mandate to sell the Swiss club under the codename Project Goalkeeper. The Athletic has seen the prospectus and have contacted the New York-based bank for comment but received no response.

Thanks for that, v. interesting. What specialism would they bring for Wolves seeking investment?
They're well connected so well placed to source capital across the US, Europe and Asia. They also have plenty of expertise in using different instruments to structure minority investments to balance competing seller and investor interests in control, return, conversion, pre-emptive rights etc. None of that is unique to Moelis but they are good at what they do (I've worked with them and opposite them on transactions in the past). I know one of their senior guys in the UK has some experience in football finance (back in the Ridsdale Leeds Utd era) but I expect that is coincidental to this role. They have probably acted for Fosun on other projects (particularly in Asia Pacific) so would have an established advisory relationship with them.

Bringing up the Risdale Leeds era is not filling me with confidence right now!?

Josh Brownhill - DEFENSIVE MID
Che Adams - FOWARD
Ben Johnson - RIGHT BACK
Danny Welbeck - FORWARD
Callum O’Hare - ATTACKING MIDFIELD

All out of contract this summer
Would anyone take any of them? Cheap and English.

Brownhill, Adams, Johnson & O’Hare would be good squad additions IMO

The concern is will fosun pay the increased salaries and signing bonuses for that many free agents?

60k+ a week suppose the issue would be signing on fee but long term would save them millions so why not?

They wouldn’t pay a small fee for a proven prem 9 in Jan, after the massive summer clear out and GON releasing sasa and Fabio for loan as agreed……

I bloody hope they do, but Jeff moves as many goal posts on mangers as the manufacturer and distributor of goal posts for footy matches lol

Who was the proven 9?

It was either;

Che Adams, offered to clubs for 5m in the last week of the window

Or

Broja - but I am hearing he wanted to stay in London.

From the reports but also what I have been told by people at other clubs who enquired about both and were told we were discussing options to sign both for long periods of the window

Playing a bit fast and loose with the term “proven prem 9” for that pair.

So the choice was £5million for a player out of contract and free in the summer or a similar loan fee for an injury prone back up who didn’t want to move north.

That is all I know mate…. Could have been another person for all I know. We were chasing a few clubs for leads by all accounts

Not for me thanks. Johnson's been around for a while and has never established himself ahead of Coufal and the German lad they released recently. Brownhill on the bench for almost bottom Burnley last night. O'Hare looks like a 'possible' albeit a bit lightweight physically. Maybe Adams or Welbeck (but not both) as squad fillers. Pretty uninspiring selection.

As squad fillers not too bad considering we have kids at the moment

We have to look at right backs with no new deal for Semedo as yet he could be cashed in on by the Fosun crew
