Wolves are hoping to bring Barcelona forward Ansu Fati to the Premier League this summer as part of a deal that may see Molineux favourite Ruben Neves go in the other direction.

That is according to Diario Sport.

If Neves is set to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers over the coming months – and it seems that he will, with just one year remaining on his contract – then Julen Lopetegui and co might as well try and turn the situation to their advantage.

It is no secret that Barcelona are big fans of the Portuguese playmaker.

And Sport say that Wolves, via super-agent Jorge Mendes, have drawn up an offer that would see Fati swap red-and-blue for Old Gold to the tune of £25 million, plus Neves in exchange.

An Ansu Fati – Ruben Neves swap deal at Wolves?

Mendes touched down in Catalonia this week for talks with the Barcelona bosses. He reportedly brought up the idea of a player-plus-cash deal during those discussions.

Mendes, Sport adds, believes Wolves may be a sensible destination for a 20-year-old winger who, thanks to a series of never-ending injuries, has seen his development hampered in recent times.

20 of the Spain international’s 31 La Liga appearances this season have come off the bench.

“I come to talk to the family,” Mendes explains. “Ansu is a great player. He has shown all his value when he was at Barcelona before the injury and he is a phenomenon. We are going to see what will happen.”

Sport add that, as far as Fati’s camp are concerned, a move to Molineux does not hold much appeal. Wolves will not be playing European football next term, after all.

Neither the player nor his father appear desperate to leave the Camp Nou either. So long as Xavi is willing to offer a him a greater role going forward.

“If Ansu stays at Barca? Yes, yes, very sure,” his father tells Mundo Deportivo. “We are very happy.”

Fati once inherited Lionel Messi’s ‘number ten’ shirt at Barcelona, after breaking enough records to fill a Guinness annual.
