West Ham United staff are known to have serious doubts about a managerial candidate who could be set to replace David Moyes.

Following last weekend’s dramatic loss at Crystal Palace, it seems increasingly likely that David Moyes won’t sign a new contract with the club.

Moyes’ current deal expires at the end of the season and despite reports that an offer of an extension was previously made, it appears as if both parties will go separate ways.

The Scot has done a stellar job during his second stint as the club’s manager, overseeing 226 games to date.

Moyes has averaged 1.54 points per match in his current tenure, compared to his 1.19 average in his initial 31 game stint starting in 2017.

And whilst the manager has guaranteed a level of performance and finish, allaying fears that anything too bad can happen, it seems the club and their fans are ready to roll the dice.

That being said, it seems as if former Wolverhamtpon Wanderers boss Julen Lopetegui is the favourite to take over this summer.

West Ham staff have voiced their concern about Julen Lopetegui becoming new manager

Julen Lopetegui’s chances of landing the job seem to have rocketed given the financial costs of taking Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP.

And according to a report by The Guardian, West Ham have now held positive talks with Lopetegui to become the club’s new manager.

However, that same report details how staff at the club aren’t necessarily in agreement over the potential appointment.

Some at the club feel as if the 57-year-old isn’t the right fit, and a younger manager is needed.

Moreover, not all the feedback West Ham have received on Julen Lopetegui has been positive too, even if David Sullivan remains very keen.

Ruben Amorim is liked as mentioned, particularly by Tim Steidten, but his £13m buyout clause is met with trepidation by West Ham.

Of course, keeping Steidten happy and invested in the club’s project could be incredibly important in the future.

Recruitment definitely improved once the German arrived, and finding a manager he shares ideologies with could be crucial.

It’s a delicate decision for West Ham, but if they’re parting ways with Moyes then it needs to be for someone special.

All that being said, TBR has recently shared an exclusive explaining Tim Steidten’s ideal choice.
