Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has claimed that two of his players are constantly being targeted by their opponents.

The Gunners have had a tough week. They suffered a setback in the Premier League due to a defeat against Aston Villa and then bowed out of the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich.

Arsenal no longer have the title in their hands, but their record in the Premier League in 2024 – just one defeat in 12 games – is really good, so they can’t be ruled out just yet.

One of the reasons why Arsenal have struggled in their back-to-back defeats over the last week is that two of their players didn’t have much space to do their thing

Arteta has now claimed that those two players are being targeted by Arsenal’s rivals.

Mikel Arteta says Bukayo Saka and another Arsenal player are constantly targeted

Arsenal are one of the best teams in the Premier League, and if you give them space, they will hurt you.

The Gunners have scored the most goals in the division this season while also conceding the least. If they go on to win the title, they would definitely deserve it, but there are still many hurdles to cross.

Arsenal take on Wolves tonight and then have tough games against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United coming up as well.

All of those teams are likely to employ one common tactic to stop Arsenal’s attack – give zero space to the Gunners’ two most important attackers – Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

That would limit Arsenal’s attacks significantly, just ask Bayern Munich – Thomas Tuchel stopped the two players and won the tie.

Speaking about Odegaard and Saka, Mikel Arteta said in his press conference yesterday, as per Arsenal.com: “They are constantly targeted like all the best players, like any other opponent. We always try to find ways to prepare the games to try to help them.

“If they try to do certain things to stop us, to find other ways, spaces, combinations, this is a journey because there’s always something that they try and you have to adapt it and make it work.”

Predicted Arsenal XI vs Wolves

Arsenal take on Wolves tonight in what will be a difficult game for the Gunners.

Gary O’Neil has done an unbelievable job at the Molineux, and if Arsenal aren’t careful, they could drop points again – just like they did against Aston Villa last weekend.

In the game against Bayern Munich midweek, many Arsenal players looked tired. So, we expect Mikel Arteta to make at least a couple of changes to give his side the best chance of winning the game.

We think Thomas Partey will replace Jorginho in midfield, while Leandro Trossard should come in for Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank.

Predicted Arsenal XI vs Wolves: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Havertz, Trossard.
