Arsenal will look to extend their lead over Manchester City when they welcome Bournemouth this weekend, live on talkSPORT.

The Gunners secured a massive 3-2 win over north London rivals Tottenham last weekend to stay one point ahead of City at the top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are starting to look back to their best after a slip-up against Aston Villa, so the home fans will be hopeful of another win.

However, the Cherries still have an outside chance of securing a European place and have enjoyed an incredible campaign under Andoni Iraola after a tough start.

The Spaniard has his team playing effective Premier League football, and they will relish the trip to north London.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth: Title pressure

Since the start of 2024, Arsenal have lost just one Premier League game at home to Aston Villa.

After that defeat, the Gunners then lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, leading to suggestions the Gunners’ season would implode.

But they’ve bounced back from those defeats with three consecutive league wins to put the pressure back on Man City.

Arsenal know they must win their three remaining league matches, and hope City, who have a game in hand, drop points in their last four.

And, the fact that Arsenal could lose just one match in nearly half a season and still not win the Premier League just shows the standards required to win the top-flight when competing against Pep Guardiola‘s men.

  • Arsenal have won all six of their home Premier League matches against Bournemouth. The Gunners have only played more home games against Stoke while maintaining a 100% record (10/10).
  • Bournemouth have only picked up five points in 13 Premier League matches against Arsenal (W1 D2 L10) and have never kept a clean sheet against the Gunners. The Cherries have only played more games against Man City (14) without recording a shutout.
  • Arsenal have won 13 of their 15 Premier League games so far in 2024, dropping points only against Manchester City (0-0) and Aston Villa (0-2) this year. However, the Gunners have conceded four goals in their last four league games, as many as in their previous 11 combined.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth: Team news

The Gunners have every first-team player available for this clash.

Jurrien Timber is now fully fit after missing the majority of the season with an ACL injury. He has been playing some games for the Under-21s and could be in the matchday squad.

Elsewhere, it will be interesting to see if Arteta elects to pick an unchanged team for the third consecutive league game.

Meanwhile, the Cherries have plenty of issues.

Ryan Fredericks has yet to play all year.

Antoine Semenyo sustained what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the 3-0 win over Brighton and joins Luis Sinisterra, Marcus Tavernier and Tyler Adams on the sidelines.

Milos Kerkez is suspended after being sent off against Wolves.

  • Since Bournemouth picked up their first Premier League win of the season at the end of October (v Burnley), they have picked up 45 points in 26 matches (W13 D6 L7); only the current top four sides have more in this time. They have never won more matches in a top-flight campaign than their 13 in 2023-24 (also 13 in 2018-19).
  • Arsenal have scored a league-high 85 goals in their 35 Premier League games this season, with their average of 2.4 goals-per-game their highest across a single campaign since 1934-35, when they scored 115 goals in 42 matches (2.7 per game).
  • Bournemouth have won 1-0 at Wolves and 3-0 against Brighton in their last two Premier League games – never before have they won three consecutive top-flight games without conceding.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth: What has been said?

Arsenal fan and TalkTV presenter Piers Morgan is hopeful for one last push from the Gunners.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “We’re in great shape. Arsenal, in 2024, are absolutely on fire. If you take out the Villa game we have been unbeatable.

“The only team that can stop us is Man City and I do not believe that they’re going to win their four remaining games.

“I think that Tottenham will do something at their ground which will ruin every Tottenham fan’s life, but it’ll help us to win the league.”

  • Arsenal have recorded the biggest positive difference between their goals and expected goals by any side in both of the last two Premier League seasons: +15.4 this season (85 goals from 69.6 xG), and +15.7 last term (88 goals from 72.3 xG). Indeed, since the start of 2022-23 Arsenal’s difference of 31.1 between goals (173) and xG (141.9) is the largest of any side in Europe’s big-five leagues.
  • Kai Havertz’s first Premier League goal for Arsenal came in their 4-0 win at Bournemouth in the reverse fixture. The German has been involved in 13 goals in his last 11 league games for the Gunners, scoring eight and assisting five.
  • Bukayo Saka has scored 15 goals and assisted nine more in the Premier League this season. He could become only the second Arsenal player to register double figures for both goals and assists in consecutive Premier League campaigns (14G 11A last term) after Dennis Bergkamp in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
  • Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert has registered as many goal involvements in his last six Premier League games (4 – 3 goals, 1 assist) as he had in his first 23 in the competition (4 goals).
