Priorities. Say we budgeted £100m for incomings, £75m to spend after signing Fer Lopez, would you want to spend £30m on this lad when we still need to replace Cunha and possibly/probably Semedo?
Might be a good player and £30m might be a fair price and it shouldn't be out of our price range...
To do with attitude I believe. Saw an interview with Gibbs-White not long after Nuno took over at Forest where he basically admitted he'd done some 'growing up' since being at Wolves under Nuno
Don't really need the option for extra years, as long as we offer him a deal we can't lose him for nothing. Pretty sure it's players under the age of 24 who have come through the academy etc, as long as they've been offered a deal by the club then the club will at least get compensation should...

Seems like yo-yoing between a couple of years where you can peak and push for Europe and four or five years being mid-table/making sure you don't go down is basically the maximum a club with our finances can realistically expect. To even sustain things around 7th place over a prolonged period...
