Johnny Phillips will be hosting an evening to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1974 League Cup victory, taking place at the Grand Theatre on Tuesday 14th May.
All surviving members of the squad will be present, except for Alan Sunderland, now living in Malta.
There will be extensive footage from the 70s shown throughout the night, and extra special guests introduced on stage.
Sounds like the kind of event I would love to attend, and I'm already deeply jealous of anyone who does!!

Edited to add that I should also have given prominent mention to this also being a fund raising night for the Wolves Foundation, with focus on their work around dementia, and Alzheimers being a particular theme.

Tried to purchase the commemorative programme against Fulham from the Wolves agent, but they only post to UK addresses, now I have written to the club as an international member so that they will let me buy the programme from their shop, I am willing to pay all expenses, including postage.

@Tarcisio Mifsud if the club don't respond drop me a PM and I'll see what l can do. Your loyalty is creditable and deserves support.

Thank you for your gesture, but very generously the Club replied immediately and will be sending me a copy. actually I wrote to the club and told them that I was expecting them to issue a commemorative book on the 70th anniversary of the first time Wolves won the first division title in 1953/54. It was in that season when I was 9 years of age, that I became a glory hunter, as I became a Wolves supporter since they were on top of the table. Can assure you that my passion for Wolves and the City of Wolverhampton, never stopped. Thanks Wicked Wolfie.

Glad that you are sorted and well done Wolves!

I’d like to think that a heavenly body will be looking down on this event with pride!

A certain Mr Peter Creed!

I knew Peter for many years through work and what a gentleman he was, lifelong Wolves supporter and instrumental in setting up the Wolves Former Players Association back in 1988.

His interests also extended to Wolves Speedway back in the day whose passion is sorely missed.

Behind the scenes he did an incredible amount of work and persuasion in the dark days to make Wolves what they are today.

Winning that trophy in ‘74 I know meant so much to him.

I attended this last night and it was a very enjoyable evening. Great to see the legends of that era and hear some of the stories and anecdotes. Steve Daley, in particular, was in good form and Lofty too. It was, also, nice to see that Mike Bailey's family were in the audience - he was the real leader of the pack in those days.

Nice to hear how much they all appreciated the fans and what it clearly meant to them all to wear the old gold and black. That connection with the supporters is something that has long since gone.

I'm glad I grew up watching these players. Those really were the days my friend

Yep great night, some funny stories as always and echo every word you said
I even managed to come away with a 1974 white replica shirt signed by members of the 74 league cup squad
Shame Derek Parkin was unable to attend due to being ill, he’s my favourite all time Wolves player

I also worked with Peter on Andy Thompson testimonial committee, what a lovely, charming and hard working gentleman

Yes, it was a really good night. Lofty was very funny, although I think Johnny Phillips was getting a bit nervous about his language :)
King John looks like he could still play today.
We were sat right behind Robert Plant in the dress circle and just before it started a member of staff approached him and said there was a box that was empty and would he and his companions like to move into it. He said no, he was quite happy where he was. Top bloke.

It was a great night, the players were so accommodating and generous with their time in the bar after the event - almost all of them still there at 11 signing autographs and happy to have photos taken and just chat about those times.
Well worth the round trip from Bury - though I was disappointed Gary Pierce chose his journey home in a taxi rather than the lift I offered, I could have bored him with tales of the 1970s all the way up the M6.

Big shout out to Will Clowes and his foundation team for the efforts they put in too, together with “King John” who had been organising this for about a year.

Would love to have attended this.

They were all my heroes then and still are today!

Would love to think that Waggy and the Doog and Frank were looking down and enjoying it all too.

So pleased Mike’s family were there also !!

What a team and what a magical day it was. It’s still the best day of my Wolves supporting life
