Atwell on VAR might be the ultimate test to see if they're learning to just stay quiet at Stockley Park.

Craig Pawson always seems to get us against Everton, he was bloody useless a year ago in Lopetegui's first game in charge, gave them every little decision going. Hopefully he favours the home side again this time

Also says Oliver on VAR. Seems there are two different pages. Click on matchweek 20 you get Bramall click on matchweek 19 you get Pawson.

Who was the ref today? Madley ?That's THREE decent referee performances in a row for Chelsea, Brentford and Everton. You might almost think a dictat had been issued by Webb for us to be treated fairly after the absolutely diabolical series of decisions that robbed us of at least 7 points up to that point. Suddenly someone seems to have flicked a switch!

We have stopped making rash tackles in the box and now just crowd the player out, so no excuse to give dodgy penalties
but agree, enjoyable games with no referee shouting ‘look at me’

It is refreshing to see three games where the officials were fair and even, and interesting the difference this causes in our results. Long may it continue!
Tbf there was little for VAR to get involved with - offsides, handballs, penalties. I suppose you get games like that. It's great to focus on the football not the referees.

Ref was good today tho he had little to do. Agree with others tho - I think we've adapted our game a bit to avoid some of the riskier decisions.

The usual suspects did their stuff at villa tho. Exactly the kind of penalty we against us.

Last three refs have been great. No major blunders, let just about the right amount go for both sides.

This game specifically though seemed like an easy one to ref.

Webb finally got tired of apologising?

Yep, another penalty of the 2023 variety. Slight contact, the Villa player then actually takes a step and only then.... DIVES, and then ROLLS AROUND. Should have been a yellow for simulation. These refs have literally not got a ****ing clue

Yeah saw that on MOTD and thought it a ridiculous decision, but how many have we seen like that against us, while remarkably few being given the other way, despite the occasional GBH on ours!

The game is at 2-2 and it's in the dying seconds, with a monster home crowd baying for blood against poor old Burnley, bottom of the league. None of that should make a blind bit of difference, but it does. Some (most?) of these PL refs are WEAK, WEAK, WEAK. Did you see Kompany's immediate reaction on MoTD? He knew straightaway that he had been done.

I’m not normally one for conspiracies but I think you’re absolutely right. It can’t be a coincidence we’ve had 3 decent referee performances in a row after a host of awful ones

And it's not that things in general have got better. The last minute penalty given to Villa yesterday was a terrible, terrible decision. Up there with the worst ones given against us. Should have been a yellow for simulation on VAR review, if not on the field. These refs are so easily deceived (assuming they are not actually bent).

It was absolutely laughable. Even Villa fans on social media said it wasn’t a deserved penalty, although they pointed out they think should have had two earlier in the game!

Another thing about this ref. Did not take any stupid action when we showed the shirt for Lemina. Some would have. He must have been clued up as to what had happened.
Brownie points for a change.

Some Everton fans were raging that he didn’t.

Patterson kicked ball away right in front of him and didn’t book him

5 mins later stops a counter attack and gets a yellow

Luckily it didn’t matter.

Also the booking for Doyle was a total joke

Even said our tribute was ‘a bit cringe’ They can only dream of the team spirit that we have in our team.
**** the deluded ****ers. Despite their illusions they were last a "big club" in the last millennium. I sincerely hope that they have the best stadium in the Chump and rot there for at least a decade!
