excellent ideaI can't see, if teams like West Ham oppose it, how they will get 14 clubs to vote yes. It will probably happen though in some diluted way.
If Man Utd and Liverpool want an 18 team EPL they should both resign and leave us to it!
Over the weekend Pat Nevin on Radio 5 was very outspoken and firmly against the proposal.BBC radio 5 news earlier today reported (if you can call it that) they are supporting Parry with not one comment on the opposition to it.
As Hodgson said a few weeks ago "this is not the game I fell in love with".
The Morning Star reporting it is Parry behind this not the two named clubs ?
Think Man City are not inThink it would be the top 6 + Everton, West Ham and Southampton as it stands.
One hell of a gamble though mate.A few years back I spoke to an acquaintance whose a life-long Chelsea season ticket holder and computes to all home games from here in the Black Country. I being elated the way Wolves were tearing up the Chump and so obviously going to be promoted offered my opinion that Wolves would one day soon not only be back in European competition but sooner rather than later contest for the title. He was of an informed opinion that Chelsea owners along with owners from the other usual corrupt top clubs would make sure it never happened for us or any other club attempting to burst into their club and went further in saying the Premier League, as it stands, would in effect cease to operate as we know it and the usual clubs here and in Europe would form their own Europa League. Now we've all heard this before some years ago. I, for one, would welcome seeing the back of these clubs, they do not represent the football as I came to love as a kid, I have nothing but hatred for what they represent. I really think it will happen sooner rather than later and I further think all clubs, supporters etc should be planning now for a future without them and probably European competition. This to my mind wouldn't last too long, the lack of competition for big European clubs would become more and more repititous and boring. The costs would undoubtedly rise for them increasing every year and the TV companies wouldn't be able to sell a product with the same result year on year. Let them have their utopian idea, it will eventually kill them off. Think of all the housing projects that could take place in Londonistan and the North West. One proviso of course, it should be written large that non of them should ever be allowed to compete in Britain again.
‘True United fan’The move supports the casual fan so my suggestion would be that the casual fans follow United and Liverpool to whatever Sky Sports Micky Mouse Walt Disney HBO NBC League they want to be in and leave them over there
The real fans will enjoy whatever league is the top league and treat that as the almighty prize and football will continue to be successful and popular with the majority who want it to be competitive. I would be shocked if any real true United or Liverpool fan would want a league and a division so corrupt as this proposal.
No one and I repeat no one was angry at Leicester winning the title apart from the likes of Parry who quietly seethed and worked to make sure this never happened again. If this does not work they will try again.
A total **** statement. Should be banned. Racism disguised as humour.
For anyone gullible supporting this Top 6 power grab.
MARTIN SAMUEL: Project Big Picture' is a disgusting Big Six power grab
MARTIN SAMUEL: Rick Parry helped destroy the fabric of English football once, and now he's going for it again. Project Big Picture? Far from saving our game, all it would do is reduce.www.dailymail.co.uk
Since there is actually no such place as Londonastan why compare London to those places then?'Land' is racists now?
I point you to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan
So have the Department of Media, Culture and Sport.... If the big 6 pee off HMG they may well find legislation and or lots of new taxes follow....Haven't the Premier league distanced themselves and called ou the efl chief Rick Parry?
That'll be the Rick Parry who was instrumental in founding the Greed is good league and later was CE of the Dippers. If the EFL clubs really believe that complete **** has any respect for their interests.....“They [big PL clubs] are frustrated that they get outvoted ... how can Huddersfield have the same vote as Man United?”
The chairman of the EFL, where Huddersfield play. What on earth. **** off Parry.
Saddens me that the head of the Football League, the league that started everything off for the game we all love now, is now trying to throw everyone under the bus to favour the “big six” - none of whom were even there at the inception of the bloody league.
Once again, **** off Rick Parry you self serving, arrogant, slimy *******.
Edit: Apologies for all the *’s
As someone who has lived in London since 1986 (about a mile from the once infamous Finsbury Park mosque) l couldn't agree more. Particularly ironic being posted by a Wolves fan given that there is a significant ethnic minority population in Wolvo....A total **** statement. Should be banned. Racism disguised as humour.
No one’s going to publicly back something so divisive. The ‘top 6’ already agree apparently. So far ,apart from Parry, no one else has publicly backed this scheme
Liverpool and Man Utd are the only ones pushing the agenda
Looks like the Porno Chuckle Brothers and Mrs Dildo realise that their so-called special status would be a sham."The big six are using Covid for a power grab," said the West Ham source. "If this goes through, over time they will just use more and more for themselves."
Premier League: West Ham are against radical Big Picture plans - West Ham 'against Big Picture plans'
Never had you down as a Talksport listener.Consesus of opinion on Talksport this morning and early afternoon including the top 6 supporting fans was that it is bad for football. It's self serving for the top 6 and everyone was opposed to the idea.
Apart from Parry who is just devoid of any other ideas has sold his soul to gain finance in the short term.
No one thinks it's an actual starter.
There's a sweetener there for all the usual suspects. I actually hate the premier league anyway but it's better than this alternative.Tottenham and Liverpool eligible for over £150m in rebates
The 'infrastructure funds' section would see Premier League clubs set aside £150m per year from central funds for this purpose. Clubs would then be able to claim money for improvements.www.dailymail.co.uk
unreal, the daily heil got chosen for the link i use due to no paywall, just shows a little more how they want it all.
No one’s going to publicly back something so divisive. The ‘top 6’ already agree apparently.
Ignore must be bost, I can still see your post mate.Since there is actually no such place as Londonastan why compare London to those places then?
When we say PortuWolves it's clear what we're referring to. There is no negative connotation though.
Londonastan? Work it out you dullard. And welcome to the ignore list.
Ive always felt the covid situation would lead to the PL taking over the Championship. This goes way beyond that and gives 6/9 teams a massive leg up. If they remove the voting mechanism I don’t see what there is to oppose reallyDidn’t realise but apparently Parry was working on this for the last 3 years, before he got his job at the EFL and way before covid problems which makes it worse if that’s possible
No surprise this has come from clueless American owners. Tell em if they want that type of power they can leave the league and set up on their own.
Ignore must be bost, I can still see your post mate.
From what I’ve read it’s consecutive rather than total (have seen it noted that Newcastle and Villa have had more PL seasons than MC for example).Think Man City are not in
****ney ****er?I knew a bloke who was from London and his name was Stan. Guess what we called him?
It’s a no brainier for any club that would consider themselves traditionally League One/League Two. Anyone smaller than Reading really.Crewe Alexandra Vice-Chairman Charles Grant just been on BBC Sport and announced he is totally in favour of the proposal. His logic being that clubs in the lower leagues will at last finally benefit from the huge money in the Prem and that the top six with extra power does not have any effect on the lower clubs because they always were the most powerfull anyway. Also he knows that clubs like Crewe would never get promoted to the Prem anyway.
Seems that the sugar coated pill is there for the lower league to swallow
Oh I had to lift the ignore briefly to appreciate your response. Priceless. Calling him a dullard has proven apt lol.More ignorance, it works the other way around he can't see your crap.
On mine now!
Didn’t realise but apparently Parry was working on this for the last 3 years, before he got his job at the EFL and way before covid problems which makes it worse if that’s possible
