Well into my 50s and I’ve discovered something new.

Was in Morrisons yesterday and spotted a section selling American style choc bars.

Bought a “Baby Ruth “ as I’m partial to peanuts and nougat.

Bloody loved it. Going to clear their shelves midweek.

I can't remember then names of all the sweets, but as a kid i used to love going to pennies, the old sweetie shop in wall heath that was run by a child hating old fart (or maybe is was just us she didn't like) on a Saturday morning and getting a 50pmix up and two cans of lime top deck then going home to watch the cartoons.

Anothe favourite of mine, when i was a kid-

There's a pink mint over here that tastes like the germaline smell.
BTW they don't have germaline in Canada, the equivalent is polysporin.

Nougat......the one sweets all the kids hated,(Dublin) and just asked my Canadian wife.....no, none of her kid friends hated also. Just surprising is all.

Btw, we all loved Milky Mints and Fox’s Glacier mints.....were they just Irish sweets?

Aniseed balls.......gawd, how that takes me back!

Usually, the best value overall was a penny toffee bar.....different flavours and even the red toffee. You had to break it against a wall or something, then pick the foil off it. But it lasted longer than most.

Never heard of Milky Mints. Fox’s Glacier mints (and fruits) are still around though
