Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, I certainly did!

Happy birthday today to

Mark Clyde (41)
Jack Ruddy (26)

and a posthumous birthday to

Billy Harrison (1886-1948 - 317 appearances 1907-1920. Member of the 1908 FA Cup winning team )
I think Mark Clyde would have been a good player for us, but career sadly cut short through injury.

Happy birthday today to

Andy Mutch (60)
Tom Huddlestone (37)
Harry Burgoyne (27)

and a posthumous birthday for

Ernie Stevenson (1923-1970 - 8 appearances 1946-1948)

I don’t think Andy Mutch got the credit he deserved during our rise back from the dead. He was the perfect partner for Bully, and played a part in many of his goals. Andy Mutch also scored a few himself.

Happy birthday.

What a player Derek Parkin was. Not only a very good full back, but also loved getting forward at every opportunity. I think he also player centre half on a couple occasions when there were injuries. ‘Squeak’ holds the record for the most appearances by a Wolves player, was it 607 or 609 times he wore our colours?

Happy birthday Derek Parkin.

609. Can't see that being beaten in my lifetime. But you're right, a wonderful player who was another that suffered the bias against us from the England selectors at the time and never played a senior game for his country.

More on that tomorrow though.....

It's my birthday today and I was born in 1944. I went to my first game in 1949.

Happy birthday, have a great day. You would have been fortunate enough to see the great Wolves team of the 50’s, you must have great memories of those days and the first floodlit match. Memories you can always treasure.

Yes I can remember those days, especially the early flood light games. I can remember the Russian goalkeeper, Yashin I think, catching the ball and throwing it out, to well over the half way line, when you remember the weight of the leather ball! I had a Bert Williams green goalkeeper jersey for my fifth birthday.

I mentioned yesterday that Derek Parkin was one of the players who suffered bias against Wolves in the 70's by the England selectors. Well today we celebrate the birthday of the Wolves player shafted by the England selectors par excellence. Happy birthday to the great

Kenny Hibbitt (73)

also happy birthday to

Patrick Cutrone (26)

and a posthumous birthday to

Bill Barraclough (1909-69 - 172 appearances 1928-34)

If ever there was a football stat to make you weep it would be that between them in their time at Wolves Mike Bailey, Dave Wagstaffe, Derek Parkin, Kenny Hibbitt and King John got precisely 1 England cap between them (although Bailey did get 2 while with Charlton)

Kenny Hibbitt, what a player he was. He scored some great goals and I believe is second to Derek Parkin in games played for Wolves.

Happy birthday Kenny.

It would have been at least 100 more if it wasn't for his heart scare too.

Happy birthday both. I liked Kenny Jackett, he did a good job at a time when Saunders had left us in a bit of a pickle.
Did a good job but a very important one. We needed to get straight back up that season, plenty of big clubs have been stuck in league one for a few years.

Absolutely. He got us straight back up, and considering the circumstances when he took over he did a very good job.

Yep … what he did is so under estimated in many circles. Once a big club starts to slide like that, it is damn hard to turn around. We should know that better than most.

Was it Willie Carr and Ernie Hunt who were involved in that famous free kick goal for Coventry City against Everton? I think the move was banned afterwards because it was deemed Willie Carr must have touched the ball twice before Ernie Hunt scored.

The famous donkey kick routine. Unfortunately the camera's were looking elsewhere at the precise moment it was taken so you only have the replays to watch it back

Thank you for that clip. Willie Carr has always said he didn’t touch the ball twice and he is probably right.

I hope he had a great birthday and R.I.P to Ernie Hunt.
